Seldoon182 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 I'm aware of this one a few mouths ago and finally the trailer is falling out this day. I'm very curious to have a look at. After 12 years, James Cameron (God#1) is back on science-fiction movie and I had to say that I was waiting this moment for a while! Temporary trailer link: http://specials.divertissements.fr.msn. ... fault.aspx Some pictures posted on the internet. Quote
Mazy Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 I was super excited about this movie until I saw some of the screenshots from Ubisoft's game. Looks like Jurassic Park mixed with Halo, and not in a good way :G Obviously we still haven't seen anything proper from the movie, but I have a very bad feeling about this one. Even with all its "Oooo its gonna revolutionize 3D movies" hype, then if the screenshots from the game are only just a slight indicator of what its gonna look like, then it just doesn't appeal to me. That said, very interested in seeing the trailer thats gonna be released later today, hopefully that can turn me around. I guess its because I care that I'm worried Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Those stills look like they're from some low-budget TV drama. Quote
-HP- Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 http://specials.divertissements.fr.msn. ... fault.aspx trailer... Mmm... Quote
Seldoon182 Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 Yeah seeing the trailer that was weird. I mean looks awesome with interesting story but not as revolutionary as they told about! Pictures from the trailer. Quote
Mazy Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 http://images.apple.com/movies/fox/avat ... h1080p.mov It's very impressive CG, but in terms of design of this universe and such it just doesn't appeal to me :G. Its JarJar MK2 I'll still go see it, obviously Quote
2d-chris Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 omg looks amazing, reminds me of everquest, pans labyrinth, halo and other mad shit ;O mixing both high fantasy worlds with brain numbing marine shooters Quote
FrieChamp Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 I don't know much about the story, from what I can see in the trailer: Humans invading alien planets, aliens are pissed, human mind is transplanted into alien, makes out with female alien? Anyway, that trailer gives me an uncomfortable "furry" feeling and those human controlled mechs are hardly inspiring by now...but who knows, maybe it's amazing, that's just my first impression after watching the trailer *shrug* Quote
Pericolos0 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 halo vs jak & daxter ! It's looks cool though, very impressive cg, but i guess you have to see it in 3d to get the revolutionary aspect of it =)! I like the design of the creatures and aliens, looks like french comics from the 70ies and 80ies. Quote
jaboo224 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 CG looks very well done apart from 1-2 iffy parts (mainly the mechs... those looked too smooth at times while everything else was uber detailed). The trailer left me wanting more so i guess it did its job Lets face it... i think the studio did too much to hype it up... Just take it for what it is... a movie :] now district 9 quality i dont think this will be ;D Quote
Duff-e Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 someone just said on tv about avatar trailer: "It looks like blue man group giving a private party for master chief in jurassic park" Quote
Thrik Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Is it wrong to find the blue alien girl hot? Seriously though, looks good. At least it looks like it's going to be something a bit different, rather than just featuring aliens as grotesque killing fucks (granted, coming along at the same time as District 9 hasn't done it any favours). It has a colourfulness to it that really draws me in, which is extremely rare for this genre nowadays I think. Quote
Seldoon182 Posted August 22, 2009 Author Report Posted August 22, 2009 Is it wrong to find the blue alien girl hot? I don't mind! Shes also hot in black! Quote
Duff-e Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Critics putting movies like transformers 2 and district 9 on polar ends of critical spectrum is troubling not only because latter is a bad movie but because the former, a confirmed horrible movie, still made $823,000,000. I can't judge avatar based on its trailer but it has to be a bad sign when you can imagine the "creative meetings" discussing conflict/pop culture and marketing while watching it. Everything is ebb and flow but the bar has been seriously lowered for the near future. Quote
