Sentura Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 i like the narrative of the first trailer, but the gameplay (and arguably also the arcady xp signs showing on top of dying bodies) drowned any hype i might have had for the game. unless it's going to have stunning environments like unchartered 1 and 2 had, this doesn't seem worth it. 2d-chris Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Love the setting, visually/conceptually but I'm not sure about the movement ideas, seems to be dumbing down what looks like a pretty simple game. That being said I should try before I come to a conclusion but it seems like a gimick to me, rather than an innovation. I just hope the project isnt caught in the horrible situation of trying to make Mirrors Edge a great shooter, certainly looks like it might work on paper but I'm not sure at all ;P Quote
Steppenwolf Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Not interested. Don't like the cartoony art style and obviously its a rip-off of some other games. Quote
Zeta Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Yeah that weapon bobbing is horrible. The movement control looks nice though. Quote
Skjalg Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Not interested. Don't like the cartoony art style and obviously its a rip-off of some other games. but..but... If a cartoony art style is rip-off.... Where did it begin? Quote
Erratic Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Mounting ledges in First Person is the next evolution of the genre. Same thing when ducking and jumping were introduced. Any FPS without it in some form is just going to seem archaic sooner or later. Can hardly be seen as a rip off, game design is iterative, news at 11. Looks awesome. Plus, Container City. Sold. Quote
Taylor Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Needs to be more realistic and set in the middle east. Quote
Nineaxis Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 I saw this and thought Borderlands I saw this and thought Borderlands I saw this and thought, okay, it's not a Borderlands ripoff, but still... Quote
Taylor Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 I think it's fair to assume this has been in development since before gasmask-inventor Borderlands would have been a factor. Quote

Steppenwolf Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Where did i say that a cartoony art style is a rip-off? Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 I'm kinda worried about it, because they keep mentioning "offline in single player" but it doesn't seem like the game actually has any SP content beyond botmatches, and they seem to be pushing this for 360/PS3 and online multiplayer on those platforms pretty much instantly dies unless you're Halo or Call of Duty, and this is neither. I don't think this'll do all that great, whether or not it's a good game Quote
Steppenwolf Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 It looks alright in the new gameplay videos on gametrailers.com and i think it could find an audiance but my first impressions are only confirmed. The game trys to be a bit of everything. I see Killzone 2, cod, mirrors edge, tf2, bioshock, crysis, borderlands all mixed together but no own ideas. Doesn't mean it has to be bad but the approach reminds me of japanese car design. And you know while japanese cars are reliable and have a lot of features they also lack a bit of character. Quote
Buddy Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 It looks like RAGE Fortress 2 to me tbh. Quote
Skjalg Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 Where did i say that a cartoony art style is a rip-off? Not interested. Don't like the cartoony art style and obviously its a rip-off of some other games. When you say "obviously its a rip-off" Its is referring to the cartoony art style you mentioned. You might have been talking about the whole picture, but that isn't clear at all from your sentence Quote
