Mazy Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 http://www.joystiq.com/photos/playstati ... 16299/full I totally figured that the pictures that leaked a few months back were fake, or rather, I hoped. Although I'm hardly a fan of the old PS3's design then this new one just looks more like a cheap replica you'd find in some shady back alley in Bangkok. But in the end then you never look at the consoles once they're under the TV anyway, and if its smaller/use less power/is cheaper/small boxes for storage then thats a pretty significant win for Sony. Just can't help but feel that they dropped the ball with the design on this one, from the pictures it looks that was rushed together fairly quickly, but then again who knows, might look really slick in when you see it for real. Oh and no Spiderman font = YOSH! Anyway, discuss. Quote
Minos Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I dunno I've always been skeptical about these slim versions. I had both a PSOne and a PS2 Slim and they sucked ballz compared to their predecessors. Quote
-HP- Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 nice!! I still love my 60gb ps3 tho, it runs PS2 games! <3 Quote
Sentura Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 yeah i have the 60gb version as well, so i don't have a reason to switch. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 looks super cheap, slight 80's but I still perfer it more then the old one, although I still do not see myself getting one. Quote
-HP- Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Why? yeah why? It owns xbox360 in almost everything, imo. Still xbox360 got some good stuff as well, but I prefer the ps3 any day. Anyways, someone on GAF brought up an interesting topic. Since the PS3 was always one of the best Blu-Ray (movies) player on the market, now that it will cost 299€, all the conventional BR players, players will also be a lot more cheap, or so they better be... sarge mat Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 The orignal PS3 was big but at least it looked like a nice console. Now it just looks like a big ass modem...... Quote

Nah, the PS3 always looked ugly... Looked like a grill. We just got used to the design, that's all. Spider man font was fail, but this one isn't any better tho. not that I care, it's the interior that's important! Quote
sarge mat Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 They need to get a good software line up going and push out a lot more titles. At the moment it’s the uncharted machine for me. The online is total crap as well. Dont know what effect this new model will have. Microsoft are set to drop the 360's price tomorrow. Quote
-HP- Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 So... they are putting buttons on the console again?! I loved the touch buttons on the fat ps3, just put your finger of top, and "beep", so awesome. Oh well... Quote
Gloglebag Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Oops! hehe, now my post done properly I dunno I've always been skeptical about these slim versions. I had both a PSOne and a PS2 Slim and they sucked ballz compared to their predecessors. Why? Also I remember people not liking the PS3 had a big fan, but isn't that good because big slow fans make less noise then small fast ones? Quote
Erratic Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I know one thing that pisses me off about my PS2 slim is that I can't plug a controller in without pushing the fucker back against the wall, ya gotta hold the console down to put it in. Yeah I'm lazy so what. Quote

Yeah, I always liked that about the PS3, in a strictly superficial way it made it feel a bit more hi-tech than the other consoles, but apparently a lot of people disliked it. I guess having actual buttons to press is easier to understand for your average consumer Quote

PSOne: Lacked gameshark slot (yeah I liked that shit when I was kid) and broke down after 2 years or so of usage. It wasn't as reliable as the old PSX, which lasted 5 long years for me. PS2 Slim: I dunno if it's just me but most PSX games didn't work correctly or froze after a few minutes. It also heated a lot and some games didn't work for good. I had to buy a 3rd party cooler at the time, it didn't fix the problem but minimized it. I had other slim owners reporting the same problems to me while other friends who owned fat ps2's claimed they'd had their systems for 3 years or so and never experienced such problems. Quote
