Skjalg
They cant seriously expect you to 1) purchase MS Word or 2) download a pirated copy and copy paste your CV into a word document, just so they can read your CV.
Corwin
They cant seriously expect you to 1) purchase MS Word or 2) download a pirated copy and copy paste your CV into a word document, just so they can read your CV. Well, you could always get Open Office and save as .doc, but I agree with both of you, PDF are safe and sound while there are multiple versions of .doc and depending on the version you saved in and the Word version they use to open it, it can be messed up (large spaces pushing your content onto an additional page, etc). Plus PDF includes the fonts in it so I really don't get why use .doc. Maybe it's because they want to be able to add comments on the resume before passing it to somebody else or something? Hourences
PDF can be modified too if they have professional acrobat installed. In any case I think its bs to refuse a pdf and ask for a doc. It probably has to do with doc being the standard file type for them and they don't want several types of files in their system or whatever. Ginger Lord
Which brings me to the real reason I posted about this: I was asked twice lately to provide a Word version of my CV. Every place I've applied to so far has asked for .doc
sarge mat
If you want to go for a non pdf type .rtf can be opened by almost anything.
Furyo
Small bump since I just finished a small addition to my portfolio. Besides adding Crysis 2 there, I also decided to provide longer explanations to each game I worked on, as that had been pointed out before. Same for my full resume which I want to actually say a bit more than being a simple collection of bullet points. As always, any feedback is welcome, and if you want me to go in more details regarding each project, I can add some more. I usually keep that for phone interviews though. neotic
I find that pdfs can just be weighty... or at least feel slow loading. Where I got hired, the leads referenced only my Word and HTML versions... and ignored PDF. I'd say the customer is always right, or rather whatever makes it easiest on them. arhurt
Great as usual man, but one nitpick I have is having both the game logo and name in there, it's kind of redundant For your portfolio I'd keep the logos and drop the game name on the tab under, since they look awesome. Furyo
Small update with some eye candy shots from Crysis 2. I wanted to give credit where it was due for those levels I haven't made, and whenever possible provide a link to the real LD's website. http://froughol.com/crysis_2.html
e-freak
Great explanations as always, just the watermark on the pictures is so unaesthetic I'd rather keep it out.
Furyo
You're welcome to design me a new one more to your VDG liking This one actually predates my current website design by about two years
-HP-
I have to agree with that horizontal stripe, looks a bit weird on there. But whatever, just nitpicking!

Furyo
Update finished. Still got to do the same kind of extended info and credit on other pages, but for now , Crysis 2: http://froughol.com/crysis_2.html Also replaced the font on all buttons. e-freak
The new font is a lot easier on the eyes. Looks good
