Where's They Hunger: Lost Souls gone?

I replayed They Hunger over Halloween last year. Hasn't lost an ounce of magic since 1999.

And stop reviving this thread. Each time I see a new post I get a heart attack.

Why not help out with these questions? Perhaps something can come of it:

Can't we try and convince them to release it as it is? I'm sure a ton of modders would be all over it. I understand they wanted to go commercial and it would be like handing your baby over. But still, if the right people asked, talented people who they would trust, surely there must be something that could be done? Does anyone know who controls the files or led the project?

Hell, they don't own the name, it's not patented. Can't another team do an unofficial sequel? Based on what we know that Lost Souls would offer?

That's the I think most accurate find ( As it refers to Kamloops where Neil lives ) I don't want to call him because i will loose my phone money fast.

Thank you for the effort but calling someone about a mod he did online goes a bit too far imo.

Would be awesome. I think Einar Saukas would be the one to talk to (project manager). Teddy and Robert Briscoe, both members of mapcore, were involved too I think. Maybe they'll have more info?

Fun to see this thread being brought back from the dead :)

I was part of the team for a few years up until 2007/2008. At that time the game was about 60% finished, with 5-6 segments more or less done (the levels were huge). It should be stated Neil truly did a great job on the levels. I should still have the game anno 2008 on an old computer in a storage somewhere.

Everyone on the team, Neil and Einar included, pitched in in their spare time, and given the AAA scope of the project it was likely tricky business to sustain. Einar used to dream about starting up an actual dev studio to produce the game, and should there have been financial means I think it would have happened. Had Kickstarter been a thing back then, who knows. Our conversations eventually faded sometime in 2009; at that time to my knowledge the project was still alive, but I doubt it still is, at least as a commercial product.

I've pinged Einar and will let you know should there be anything more to say :)

I spoke with Einar for a while last night; he and Neil lost contact with each other years ago and have not been able to get back in touch since. There were some speculation Neil has been in bad health for a while. However, a few months ago Neil tried contacting Einar again. They weren't able to get back in touch afterwards, so that's the latest info there is. As far as project status goes though, it's not cancelled. I think both of them are keen on getting back on track even after all these years.

Here in the Netherlands we have a show that reunites people that lost contact. Mostly lovers but still, there should be something similar on a larger scale. I think it's about time we sign these two up :)

One of the projects I worked on after I made de_austria.

Yeah, I know the timing is really bad (CS2!), but can't change it... 🙁

In general a lot went wrong during this project. Had a lot of problems with the layout, but I think I found a good compromise in the end. Also learned many new things. Maybe I would even be ready to create a really good map now after all, but I think that it's gonna be the final one. I really like making maps, but it has become too time consuming over the years for just being a hobby. Unfortunately I never managed to get a job in the games industry. So that's it. I hope it's a worthy ending of 20 years of making maps for me. 🙂

Shore is a bomb defusal map for CS:GO that takes place on Lofoten Islands, Norway. (Also have a Hostage version of this that works well imo)
