This test, or any other should never be taken at face value. The interesting part of it all is to take it a few times over a certain amount of time, depending on major changes in your life, and see if the profile has changed.

I looked back at the original thread we had about this when I was on PoP, and unsurprisingly the results back then were a bit different. I feel there is a strong bias towards whichever situation you are at the time you take the test, or in other words, that the general situation in which you are while taking the test changes the outcome. Not that drastically, but I can personally see a pattern there.

On PoP:

Your Type is

INFJ

Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging

Strength of the preferences %

22 25 25 11

Balanced profile, with very low levels of stress for me back then. The production was going great and I was constantly shipping my maps in time and according to my lead's expectations. Smooth sailing around the same time last year. I wasn't responsible for anything other than my own work, although I was already aspiring to that.

Right now on Assassin's Creed 2, the results changed to

INTJ

And this is exactly what I think changed. I was given (or gave myself) a lot more responsibility in a much smaller team, while working on a very important feature in the game (E3, announcements, etc). That changed my way of dealing with my work a lot, and this is something I've been told multiple times by close friends who have seen this change too. The Judging grew to 61% in this last test and 25% Feeling turned to 27% Thinking. And that just puts words on a feeling I and others had about the situation.

I would be very curious to see what the results might have been back two years ago while I was working on Dark Messiah. It's as close to the current situation as I've ever been before, only the scope of my work was 10 times what it is today, while the importance of the game as a whole was 10 times less.

So yeah again, I think these tests are only valid at a certain point in time to give you a snapshot moment of who you (at least in part) are. And that helps a lot in knowing where you want to go next.

The test can be biased, you really have to do it more than one time and read the description of the types and decide by yourself. But i'm not sure you can totally change your type. Personally i know i was the same all my life.

We came to a deep discussion about that on msn with Nysuatro which happen to be the same type as me and we were so similar in terms of thoughts, experiences and existential questions that this was scary as fuck :XD:

Why would you want to tell somebody else your personality? Can't they figure that out for themselves? Even if you needed too what are you going to say, I'm a mixture of IITGY and EVTRE? At least to me that makes you sound like a plonker.

It's certainly interesting to spend your time looking at other peoples personalities but It's a waste of time to make classifications for such a complicted and unique thing. It reminds me of people trying to describe flavors of wine or a classical piece of music using colors. Weirdos!!!!!!

Well, in my case it was the HR department of the firm that wanted to know what kind of personality I was.

Second of all, I think its hilarious that you used a classification of music (read: classic music) as an example of not putting something in a classification.

isn't this the third time this has come up on the 'core?

anyway i'm ENFP/ENTP depending on what i'm doing.

besides, 2d: saying that anything you choose or do has no effect on your personality would be ignorant. the test doesn't give you the results without merit - after all, you answer the questions it gives you yourself.

ISFJ

I'm a warm hearted, well organized motherfucker. I'm an expressionistic introvert.

funny, i had you for an ISTJ.

EDIT:

i just saw what furyo wrote. i believe you have to take the results with a grain of salt, as well as delve into the theory itself. the theory states that there is a function order for each specific type, and for some distinct types, those orders may have a minimal change. INFJ -> INTJ is not entirely impossible; it could be two aspects of your personality you take on at a respectively lower/higher resource cost.

What does somebody trying to explain music with colors have to do with classification? The point was some people go too far and try to understand everything that's out of context. Labeling your personality type is such thing in my opinion. Im me, not anyone else.

Of course you are yourself. So is anyone of us. This test isn't about who you are, it's about how you interact with the world, which is only a component of your entire self.

Although if you want to talk about what defines an individual, I would argue that cultural upbringing, personal experiences and memories are a lot more what makes you unique than your personality type which can indeed share many traits with many others.

For me it's not labeling. It's about having better communication with other people. And understanding the problems that will evolve out of an situation.

And much more. It helped me on much levels. Mostly on the level of understanding.

Right :) But on the other hand you can understand everything about personality types but if you just dont like a person thats the end of it. Clashing is very common and completely unavoidable in any situation. That is why learning all this stuff really makes no sense to me, is it really that hard to work out somebody else's personality by yourself - and thats assuming you even want to :zoidberg:

Sometimes I wonder why people need guidence on the simplest of human skills such as socialising or personalities! That being said I did take the test because I was bored :P

I'd really like you to take the test and tell us what the result is 2d chris. :quagmire:

haha - well I did this already because somebody from HR sent it around a few weeks ago but ...

ENTJ

You are:

* very expressed extravert

* moderately expressed intuitive personality

* moderately expressed thinking personality

* moderately expressed judging personality

So - take away all that fancy shit and I like to get my point across and heard. I knew that already ;p

lolol look what we have here! It's true but if I asked questions like do you like to lead in situations one would expect the same results at the end.

"Of the four aspects of strategic analysis and definition it is marshaling or situational organizing role that reaches the highest development in the Fieldmarshal. As this kind of role is practiced some contingency organizing is necessary, so that the second suit of the Fieldmarshal's intellect is devising contingency plans. Structural and functional engineering, though practiced in some degree in the course of organizational operations, tend to be not nearly as well developed and are soon outstripped by the rapidly growing skills in organizing. But it must be said that any kind of strategic exercise tends to bring added strength to engineering as well as organizing skills.

Hardly more than two percent of the total population, Fieldmarshals are bound to lead others, and from an early age they can be observed taking command of groups. In some cases, they simply find themselves in charge of groups, and are mystified as to how this happened. But the reason is that they have a strong natural urge to give structure and direction wherever they are - to harness people in the field and to direct them to achieve distant goals. They resemble Supervisors in their tendency to establish plans for a task, enterprise, or organization, but Fieldmarshals search more for policy and goals than for regulations and procedures."

Well personally i don't like to lead and i have a hard time with hierarchy and structure in general, i'm more of a facilitator who would rather like to make everyone able to work on its own rather than giving directives. What's important for me in the end is that everyone is happy with what they do (more than being productive), more of an indirect inspirational way to lead ( i won't do a good leader ) There is differences. :D

And yeah when you say "I wonder why people need guidance on the simplest of human skills such as socialising or personalities!"

Socializing is really not the simplest thing to do for me, even if i love people in general and meeting new ones, i usually really have to take a lot energy out of myself to do it.
