thefoofighter Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 I downloaded a mustang 67 model from the google 3d warehouse and exported it to an .obj file So far all was well i followed a tutorial for the XSI mod tool on how to export the smds and materials And still i havent got a problem , Then i used Cannonfodders studio compiler to compile the model and textures and still its ok I opened it up in the SDK modelviewer and it looks very very nice. Then i open hammer create a random brush and make prop_static entity and go to the properties then i try to select a world model and hammer crashes everytime I just wondedring guys like the model obviously works since it came up in in the Hl modelviewer Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get it working in hammer Would the file size be too big maybe too many polygons ? i dont know i hope you guys can help shed some light Quote
e-freak Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 funny thing is you mastered source sdk model import and failed building a map (from the sounds of it). Prop_static isn't a brush entity but a point entity. Use the point entity and try again. If this isn't the reason for the crash then you might check out the polycount but if HLMV shows it all other applications should be fine with it. Quote
Pampers Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 i think its the model browser thats crashing for him, try enabling the old browser in the options somewhere Quote
dux Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 The vgui brower is broken at the moment. Switch to the old view in general options at the bottom. Quote
