D3ads Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Couldn't find the other thread, so here's a new one. Anyway, Gameinformer magazine has an article on the new game: Gotta say that I am not impressed at all, how the Hell is this Max Payne? There's no grittiness, no dark noir style story telling.. Looks more like Die Hard in Brazil :/ Quote
Buddy Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Franchise raped not bothered to read through the article really edit: Seems like the game will be nice and fun but its no longer max payne to me. The good thing is that, since its based on rage, it will use euphoria which i like edit2: Max looks kinda like Sean Connery to me Quote
Corwin Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Indeed, it looks like FarCry 2 in third person. On the fourth screen there's a bit where he's wearing a shirt and it looks "a tad" more like Max Payne, but you really have to look for it. It's weird that it takes place in Sao Paulo as well. That's not the exact place that comes to mind when thinking "noir". Then again, I'll wait and see, if you forget its Max Payne, it could still be a good game. Rockstar aren't so bad at what they do. Furyo Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 A friend of mine left Rockstar Vancouver for Ubi Montreal and AC2 after starting working on this game. He told me one of the reasons he didn't believe in the project was the choices and directions they were making that made the franchise evolve into something else entirely. Quote
Pampers Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 hmm looks like they've changed everything, right now it looks like a mix between sam fisher, uncharted and die hard, they also changed the voice actor for max :S Quote
Grinwhrl Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Wow, that looks awful, reminds me of that 50 cent game Quote
D3ads Posted June 14, 2009 Author Report Posted June 14, 2009 Far Resident Evil Cry Payne Theft Auto 4. Actually those overalls remind me of Torque's attire from The Suffering Quote
Warby Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 this is not max payne ... walk along people nothing to see here Quote
D3ads Posted June 14, 2009 Author Report Posted June 14, 2009 I feel like starting a petition against this, but is it worth it? Anyone in? Quote
Warby Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 petitions are never worth it. nobody is obligated to listen to them Quote
Thrik Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Why not? They're really going to scrap years of development at the behest of an internet petition. Quote
Mazy Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Hehe I think I'll reserve my judgement until I see something proper from it rather than just a mag scan. I do agree that it feels kinda random to suddenly have him go to Sao Paulo, but I think it could be a cool location have him fiddle around (Hey, MW2 is in Brazil as well, its the new hotness ). Quote
-HP- Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 FUCK YOU R*! First a shitty Max Payne movie, now this... Quote
Gloglebag Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I always like seeing developers take games in to a new and fresh direction, and if they can pull noir in such an unusual setting it's gonna be great. At this point the main thing bothering me is weather or not the rage engine will work well on the PC, or if it will be another GTA. Quote
