JynxDaddy Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Whoa thats great tisky~ Can I help with anything Quote
Mazy Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 tbh then I dont really understand why u wud remake assault of all cs maps, never really considered that as a true cs classic. Now get to militia and prodigy instead, those r just begging 4 a remake Quote
Tisky Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 Im new to mapping with hammer and i thought that a small map as assault would be a great practice. Btw, :edit: Gas station: Parking building (far from done) Quote
insta Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Dude, it looks like you are still staying well within the poly limits of the HL1 engine Add more brushwork/detail to...well, everything. It's the Source engine, what every HL mapper has dreamt about ever since HL2 was announced. Quote
Tequila Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Dude, it looks like you are still staying well within the poly limits of the HL1 engine Add more brushwork/detail to...well, everything. It's the Source engine, what every HL mapper has dreamt about ever since HL2 was announced. Yeah, I demand more curves and less right-angles! Quote
Taylor Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Why does everything have to be so fancy? I just want sausage, mash and a bit of cake. Quote
Tisky Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 Actually, at work, i was sketchin on the gas station, and i decided to make it little more rounder, and change some textures. Im free from work tomorrow, so guess 5 times what im gonna do Btw. im loving valve hammer more and more each day. Quote
mikezilla Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 i suggest not doing the sunsetty looking skybox. That's gonna get overused like crazy and i think anyone who played hl2 is already tired of it. like a slightly dim overcast day seems more fit for this. Quote
Tisky Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 yeah, maybe.. im gonna try some different skyboxes. fixed up the gas station alot, gonna get some screenies now! :EDIT: Some models, like the pole on the street, are supposed to have signs on them, but they arent showing in the map. D: weird. Quote
Duff-e Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 tisky why dont you try doing a classic cs map remake ALL YOUR ATTEMPTS AT ORIGINAL MAPPING ARE FUTILE, SUBMIT TO DE_NUKE Quote
OL Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 i made u a handtruck consider urself blessed Quote
von*ferret Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 a lot better. suggestions are -I'd use round poles rather than square poles. -Add better lights. Those flat brushes are days of Halflife, Get creative and observe how real locations do lights. -Careful with windows, if you have a window make sur eyou can see through it. This is halflife2 we're talking about, just plan accordingly. -Dont overuse models for models sake, ie: those fences. Why are there fences at a gas station? Just to look pretty or do they have a use? -I think I see a texture error in the merging of the gas station floor and the road. -Make streets a little wider unless they are 1 ways, in which case put signs up saying so. Quote
Tisky Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 Omg, stop the whining! hehe.. Actually 2 cars fit on the road. And ive never ever seen a gas station with rounded poles =/ Also the fences are there because i want fences there. The rest of the things are just stuff il do later. I plan on making the basic brushwork later, and then i will "rounden" it so to say, and fix the lights and textures. If u dont like it, tough! BTW OL, reall nice, but wheres the skin? D: Quote
Taylor Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 All buildings need some kind of 3d indentation on the roof, be it an overhanging trim or a slope. Quote
