I'd agree with this bill if it meant violent games like manhunt and stuff like we've seen as a trophy kill in AvP and limb cam in Hells highway was banned. That is crossing the line IMO and should not be allowed.

It all depends where the line is drawn.

What line is it crossing?

Also "limb cam"?

I defintely watched a trailer where they where showing off the fact that limbs get ripped off realistically when the slowmo action cam hits in. Maybe they removed it before release, not sure. I always thought it was the most out of place mechanic I've seen in any war game.

I wouldn't see a problem with it if there was limbs being ripped off realistically. I've personally yet to see a game, even Manhunt, come remotely close to the level of violence I've seen in movies like Day of the Dead or pretty much any war movie, and since there's no evidence that seeing virtual violence in a game has any greater effect than seeing FX violence in a movie, eh.

You know what I think crosses the line for that sort of thing? I bought a "Horrorfest after dark" movie at Walmart the other day. It had a trailer on the disc for a different movie from that series of releases, about med students haunted by their dead hooker cadaver, and at the end of the trailer the announcer claims "The first movie to use REAL HUMAN CORPSES"

Well the short version is:

The European E-Sports League (ESL) used to hold finals on friday nights and invite players to different cities where they would play in front of "the masses" (up to 200 viewers i think). One of the latest "Intel Friday Night Games" should have been in Stuttgart the friday after the school-shooting of Winneden (which is 20 km from stuttgart) so the city of stuttgart prohibited the IFNG for "obvious reasons". The players and the ESL swallowed that one as it seemed to be not the right time to discuss about "Killergames" again. The next IFNG should have been in Karlsruhe but the mayor (who is currently running in the election campaign for the next period) prohibited the Games again after the relevant office already signed them to be OK.

The relevant office for the youth and some ESL people organized a protest-marsh then but as it is often, our politics ignored them.

Current Development is that the federal parlament signed a new law that allows the BKA (German FBI) to block webpages if they contain child-pornographic material. what sounds right at first is supposed to be one of the major mistakes of the politics in the last 30 years. The seperation of powers is destroyed (a police/secret sercive with judicative might), instead of deleting or hunting down child pornographic material and theyr distributors they just block the access via domain, and it's an easy and uncontrolled censor-mechanism that is basically the reverse of our free and democratic state as proposed in our constitution article 5.1:

Article 5

[Freedom of expression, arts and sciences]

(1) Every person shall have the right freely to express and disseminate his

opinions in speech, writing and pictures, and to inform himself without hindrance

from generally accessible sources. Freedom of the press and freedom

of reporting by means of broadcasts and films shall be guaranteed.

There shall be no censorship.

the nice thing is: the pirate party and other oppositional parties claimed that this new "censoring"-law is going to be abused, which the goverment demanded heavily. it was then that the law was put legal for two hours that the first member of the gov claimed to extent the censoring from child-pornographic material to "killergames" and it could take them another 2 months before they ask to censor opposing political webpages...

one member of the current goverment left his party and joined the pirates now and we had demonstrations in all major cities against the law and it seems our constitutional curt is going to reject that law (at least that's what everyone is hoping).

(if someone is interested in the german basic law (constitution), which is imho one of the best constitutions in the world, have a link: http://www.bundestag.de/interakt/infoma ... index.html)
