ctswin Posted August 3, 2009 Author Report Posted August 3, 2009 The Special Edition stuff is a mixed bag for me, I love some of the redrawn backgrounds, annoyed by the apparent laziness in some of them, and indifferent about how Guybrush looks. I switched between the two versions when I played. Some people are working on getting the voices with the original version, looks like there will end up being two versions, one where it's enabled within the SE and one with the recorded dialog attached to the original version. Thrik Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I really like the new visuals to be honest, although I do think Guybrush's sprite looks a bit obnoxious — yet I think he looks fine in the close-ups. I think I'd find it really difficult to play the original MI1 after this, as the added ambience and voice acting adds so much to the experience. Quote
Scinbed Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Just found this on Digg: http://www.gossipgamers.com/monkey-isla ... ngine-mod/ Pretty cool. Is it the same project as the one on the first page here? Still, nice. Quote
Minos Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I got the remake on the weekend deal and I gotta say that I'm so disappointed. The voice work is kickass and adds a lot to the experience but the backgrounds are so sloppy and bad. The original game looks much better color wise imo. Quote
2d-chris Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 He works here now, really nice guy Quote

I would definitely have preferred that you could play the game with voice acting and the original graphics and not be forced to play it with the new graphics. Quote
Thrik Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Yeah that CryEngine thing is amazing. Like the best fan art ever, except dynamic. Quote
-HP- Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Oh yeah, that looks awesome! I gotta make one of those, but for Sonic & Knuckles! Quote
Thrik Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 Oh man, second special edition has been announced for release in summer. Looks like the production values have been stepped up a bit: http://www.lucasarts.com/games/monkeyisland2/#/home Looks great IMO, more like the warm art the original MI2 had. Much smoother animations and nicer special effects too. High-resolution screenshots here: http://www.lucasarts.com/company/vip/monkeyisland2.html Colour me excited as I haven't played MI2 for many years. Quote
ctswin Posted March 11, 2010 Author Report Posted March 11, 2010 Ha, I was going to bump this saying you're probably the only one interested Why haven't you played it for years? ¬¬ Pretty close! Quote
