I'm somewhat dubious. It is VERY unlike Valve to pump out a sequel to a game only a year or two after the last game came out -- especially for multiplayer games where they tend to actually support their game with free, new content and updates for a few years instead of dropping it and tossing out a sequel. If this is true, I'll be slightly disappointed in them.

spot on. L4D2 is not an option (although Gabe might prove me wrong in a week), if it's MP it's either another IP (which doesn't sound too great either, seeing TF2 and L4D + CS in all it's versions pretty much covers all of the market there is (with little share to CoD and BF series), and splitting up an existing IP (like Counter-Strike) doesn't sound too much like Valve as well (though they might just scrap CS:S and build a CS2, but I doubt that, too). So the key is: Single Player. Either they are for something like a CS:CZ 2 (With CoOp and SP and maybe some major upgrade to CS:S MP) or Episode 3 (long time only little hints so maybe) or Portal 2 (which sounds most likely to me). Further options would be: The Wii-Game Gabe's been dreaming of, an RTS/MMORPG (which they said they would be interested in - something like the seven Hour war game) or Duke Nukem Forever (don't take it too serious here ;) ).

New Counter-Strike? Maybe...

Pretty sure Episode 3 won't be there this year but does something such as "Counter-Strike" sound good to you?

edit: I'm not saying this is a fact but purely speculation from the information I have.

Could this be the big CSS update we've all been waiting for?

Extra code has been found in the cstrike.fgd file relating to a new Gametype called 'Heist'. In this code there is talk of 'Territory' and 'Respawn Areas' - it would appear that Heist is a sort of Territorial Capture Mode.

It then goes on to mention the map cs_assault and many different capture points in this map, including 'Terrorists' Base Territory Point (Non-Capturable)', 'Bank Territory Control Point' and 'Surveillance Center Territory Control Point'.

Respawning is also mentioned:

respawntime(float) : "Wave Respawn Time" : 30 : "Respawn time in seconds."

and

@SolidClass base(Targetname) = func_territory_respawn_area:

"Players will respawn inside this area."

Also mentioned is an entity called 'point_territory_control_rules' which is described as "The Territory Control rules entity (VERY IMPORTANT!)".

So when will we see this new Game Mode in action? We hope sometime very soon

well, imagine someone changes counter-strike to "respawn times" and "territory control". wtf? no one would ever dare do that, apart it looks more like this was internal testing stuff for DoD or TF games.

Bleh to that. More like Day of Defeat: Source: Source please. :-D

Day of Defeat was great. I loved joining a moderately populated server and roleplaying "enemy at the gates" :D I bought it when it was 5 bucks/free weekend last year and there were tons of newb players, so I could pretend I was an FPS god :P

Dammit, Valve! No more MP stuff. We get it, you can make several award winning MP games and support them well after their release. Well done. Where's EP3 and Portal 2! You leave us on a nice little cliffhanger at the end of EP2, but then instead saying anything about the continuation, you show reruns of "Terrance and Philip: Not Without My Anus" with an extra scene added every 4 months.

Also, to you Ubisoft Montreal boys and girls... Splinter Cell: Conviction... please... I'm begging you.
