D3ads Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 This was just released yesterday on moddb, a huge mod which almost completely enhances Stalker:SOC to look more like a game made in 2009, kinda what I'm hoping COP will look; http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009/ Check out the rest of the screens here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/artistpave ... 36/detail/ I don't think I'm going to be able to run this, considering how "old" my rig is, but most of you will have a blast with this. Really want to see what the Google earth map looks like, so would appreciate it if people could post some custom shots Quote
-HP- Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 I don't really liked the dreamy athmosphere of the first stalker, this is so much better! awesome... Love all those shots on the flickr page, so clear and crisp! Great shot: Quote
Buddy Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 I just love how people love some mods just because they make things look "different" and in most cases it doesnt mean "better". Quote
-HP- Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Looks better to me Original STALKER: Ultimate S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod Like i said on a previous post, looks a lot more clear and crisp and not so dreamy. But I'm just basing on screenshots, haven't tried the mod yet. Quote
Sentura Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 maybe it was supposed to be more dreamy because the developers had thought it out that way? i mean, stalker doesn't exactly hide that it has supernatural tendencies... Quote
D3ads Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 Looks the same to me + HDR bloom, New asphalt detail texture, old Kamaz truck texture with added worn editing instead of rusted skin, heavier shadows. Other than that though, not much difference.. Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 I just love how people love some mods just because they make things look "different" and in most cases it doesnt mean "better". STALKER with the Darker Nights mod sure made things look "different", and also "Way better". Now you can get the experience of going into one of the scripted scary research labs every time the sun goes down! Seriously, STALKER with pitch black nights was fucking terrifying, especially in areas with the bigger mutants, when by default (At least in DX8 which is all I could play on) nights looked like days with a different sky texture. I can't think of a single game experience that had me jumping out of my seat as often or as frequently as STALKER with dark nights. Or a game experience that had me, all on my own without prompting, decide it was a good idea to climb into a small, hard to get to place and just stay there, staring out at the entrance, waiting for dawn. Edit for screenshot I found online: Yeah, imagine getting swarmed by snorks in that situation Quote
Cybbe Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 That last image Jetset posted looks a bit like doom... The rest looks pretty badass. I was a bit annoyed with the dream filter as well, but I don't play a game because of the graphics. Deus Ex 2 and Kotor 2 should be a proof that I play through even the most faulty games as long as it has a nice story (And the gameplay is still good). Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 That last image Jetset posted looks a bit like doom... Hey, at least you've got a flashlight you can use while shooting, and there are other people in the world That's another way I ended up passing nights, finding a local STALKER camp and just hanging out with them, listening to one of them play guitar. The ruined train station was my favorite. Quote
