Freak Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Well, as the title says, I´ve got a problem with my displacements in a small hl2 map. First of all, I´ve made the displacement like I always did in the past and like everyone else does... So, my problem is that every physics, ragdolls and weapons simply fall through my displacement I asked around and Ryell told me that my displacement collisions maybe are turned off. They aren´t. Another guy told me that it may be because of custom textures that cause collision problems.. even hl2´s textures don´t work in that case. The most weird thing at all is that physics also fall through clip-textured-brushes... In hl2dm I don´t have that problem, in ep2, portal, tf2 and all the other source games too.. So it seems that just hl2 isn´t working correctly. Creating a new map doesn´t work either. I´ve got no leaks or something in my map. So do you guys know why there is such a weird problem Quote
Skacky Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Have you tried to compile with the param -novirtualmesh in vbsp's command line? Quote
DvS Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Long shot, but are you working on a linux machine? I had big issues with getting physics collisions to work in my 100% displacement map, dm_agora because of the sheer amount of data present, but only on linux machines, windows versions worked fine. 2d-chris Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 If all else fails reinstall SDK and HL2 , or even steam! Quote
Freak Posted May 15, 2009 Author Report Posted May 15, 2009 @Skacky: No... thx, I´m gonna try this @DvS: I work on Windows XP @2d-chris: well, that is what I´ll do if you guys cannot help me Thx for your feedback! Quote
BaRRaKID Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 It might had accidentally changed some command in the console that makes the game ignore object collision, i think there was a command that did that but can't remember which one. Try deleting the .cfg files and afaik HL2 will create a new default config file once you start the game. Quote
mookie.gc Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 Is the displacement a translucent material? Quote
Freak Posted May 17, 2009 Author Report Posted May 17, 2009 no, no translucent material. thx barrakid, I´ll try this... not today, but tomorrow Quote
Freak Posted May 29, 2009 Author Report Posted May 29, 2009 well thanks to you guys, I´ve tried everything (except reinstalling) but nothing works Quote
