I am the co-leader for a half-life 2 mod Forsaken.

I'm not going to go into great detail here, because most of the information you will need is on the website here.

We are looking for some talented texture artists to help create and build the eerie post viral apocalyptic world of Forsaken and if you think you are the man/woman/other for the job, then please apply. :-D

Seems like some mod admins have gotten an eye out for the mapcorians now'a'days...

to bad they arent always looking for mappers, such as this one :(

But if i knew how to make GOOD textures, id join this mod... i like it...

There's a great deal of talent here on mapcore, i'm very impressed.

And yes, we are on the look out for mappers too, but I only mentioned texture artists because there's such a lack of quality 2d artists in the hl mod scene right now!

yeah, agree... Alltho im this could be like shooting myself in the foot, heres my advice;

dont "hire" mappers, just ship the first beta of the mod with 2 maps... If people like the mod, you will get 100 maps within a month... some are better than others, and those you just nip out... Do it CS-style (in the making). All good maps are made by people not "employed" by the mod (thats not entirerly true :P), because they make the maps PURELY out of the fun for it, not because they are a part of a group of people who are expecting you to come up with something...

Theres a big difference between opening hammer with the intention

- "I must make a map!"

- "I want to make a map!"

you probably know the last stuff there... but im sure that if you release a playable beta, and its fun, you'll se some quality maps, atleast from mapcore... As far as my experience goes, the mapcorians should take alot of the blame for many mods' success (cs, dod, NS, ts).

but im just rambling on :P

[edit]please get that 3rd update up! NOW! ;)[/edit]

In reply to the guy who posted some advice about mappers...

I totally agree with you. I will be undertaking all of the mapping in the first release. I'm incredibly excited the settings and locations our team decided on, and will have two very skilled static mesh modellers to help me fill out the world with detail rich props.

I'm a very lucky guy!

All we need now is a texture artist to work along side me and the team to help add a completely fresh look to the maps. I used to do the same with Postman back in the day and we were an excellent team; he gave me some truely inspiring materials to work with!

However, it would be quite ill advised to hire some truely inspired tallent; i've always said that if a mapper is better than me, we'd hire them.

Update number 3 is complete and ready to show the world; we're just waiting for the HL2 buzz to chill a little, so that our artist's hard work doesn't go unnoticed. Possible update tonight or probably tomorrow. Thanks for the kind words :)
