misterbister
Hello guys! I just recently finished Project 25 and would like your opinions of it. Project 25 is a single player episode, made by me, with 30 minutes of playtime set in the Half-Life 2 universe. The episode is a part of my final year project to get a Bachelour of art. The goal is to create a unique single player experience while still keeping the episode true to the original. Voice acting is performed by Kelly Harrigan, Edwyn Tiong and Emelie Isacsson. If you have some time to kill i would be very happy if you downloaded it from my website, tried it out and then filled in the questionaire included in the .zip (this would really help me out with the academic part of my project). You need Half-life 2, Half-life 2 epsode 1 and Half-life 2 episode 2 installed to get it working. Installation instructions are included in the .zip . You can download project 25 here: http://www.filip.coulianos.se/files/project_25.zip

insta
Overall I liked it. Like you said, it has its fair share of glitches, and the water-puzzle in the second map was somewhat tricky (I understood what I was supposed to do, but the physics weren't agreeing with me). The visuals on the first map was great though, but the attention to lighting and detailing went down a bit once you got outside. The voiceacting was very good, very close to the original actors which few other mods have pulled off. Performance overall was so-so for me, but I think that can be blamed on my sub-par laptop. After the climactic battle, it would be cool if your squad would cheer and some music would start playing. Right now the end is somewhat abrupt. So overall, good work! e-freak
The Shipfight is too linear (Combine Wave, Combine Wave, Shipfight) – would have been more interesting/appealing if there was a Combine Wave during the Shipfight and (at least for me it didn't) if the Gunship would fly from all sides to the battleside and not just from above the gate. Also would have been nice if some of the rebels joined later as they were all dead by the time the ship arrived. Also big no-go (but not too bad seeing this is only meant as a sequence in a larger game) is the gate being one of the major puzzles but you never get to go through it as well as first thing you see being the boat but you not gonna drive it. As Gabe Newell states it ”You can't show a bomb to the player and not have it blow”. Pretty cool was the connection/resemblence of the different parts of City 17 – the canals, the motorway-tunnels, the housing areas and the ruins to fight in. For a 20 minutes playtime that was really well achieved and put together. The lighting was a little irritating in spots, e.g. The man hacker's hole in the ceiling of the tunnel was so bright plus given the fact that there seemed to be a possibility climbing up there I wondered if you were supposed to get up there (following the light) (and I really liked the effect of that very spot for eye-candy ). Sometimes the textures used were completely black (model-textures on brushwork?) but I assume that kind of things happen. Presentation was good over all, the dialogues were ok but could be a little more dramatic and it would be nice if NPCs like the very first rebel-guard you get to see would actually share a word or two and not just stand there, but that's nitpicking. (just quoted from the doc I filled out) yes and performence dropped a few times but nothing too bad and the ending was really apprupt - alyx didn't even turn around
Freak
I liked the part where you have to change the inside cable with the outside cable most, I was a bit confused at first On the middle border in the second picture theres a small part of displacement where you can´t walk over, and you´re able to walk through the wooden thing right behind your spawnplace. And insta, use barrels, not crates ;D I somehow was teleportet to the ceiling when I wanted to jump onto a pallet at the water part, I fell down and died >.< Overall I enjoyed playing it, but I agree with all points that have already been replied.
