Furyo Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 As many of you know by now, I'm currently working on this new game, and I'm hoping to get some good feedback from the Core regarding the experience they had with the first, and where they may see the second headed. I can't go into details about the game for now, so you'll just have to be patient a little more. We did just release our teaser trailer, which you can view on Gametrailers as part of their new (really cool) Pop-Block feature: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47788.html So have at it Quote
Sentura Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 my biggest gripe with the first was the amount small tasks you had to do prior to each assassination. i appreciate that the game took a new way of completing assassination "missions" where you had to do more stealth in a relatively more friendly environment (compared to e.g. splinter cell), but honestly those missions weren't fun. i would like to see more puzzle and stealth puzzled based missions before the main assassination. i imagine that the combat will also expand to modern weaponry and i'm hoping to see some ways to "counter" ranged opponents, just like you could counter melee opponents in the first game. as for the trailer itself, it really bugs me with those questions. in my opinion the player has to imagine those questions him or herself just by looking at the trailer. so more subtlety, just enough to let the players know what game it is and let them ask all the questions themselves. jaboo224 Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I seriously cannot wait. This is exactly my type of stealth game. Fast and dangerous. I loved the first one. Still is one of the best looking games out. The only thing i really thought was missing was a day to night cycle and the crossbow in the beginning cinematic. I eagerly await this sequel! Quote
Minos Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I haven't played much of the first but I really hated the backstory going on. It felt a little pretentious and unneeded. Art wise it's one of the best looking games I've ever seen and the engine is amazing. I really love the whole idea behind Assassin's Creed, I just think it would be a better game if it was a bit less pretentious =) Just make a more straightforward game and cut the unnecessary backstory! jaboo224 Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I agree with mino. I dont think the time dna machine is really needed. If they would of said "You are part of a society of assassins" that would of been good enough... No need for this odd time thing jumping back and forth. Quote
Mazy Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 PLEASE BE IN VENICE!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Uhmm. Although I can understand why some people were put off by some of the repetitive tasks of the first AC, then it never really bothered me enough for it to drag the game down. However the thing that did make it a less compelling world to go back to or stay in, was that there were absolutely nothing to do apart from the missions and finding flags/templars. I really hope you're making the world of AC2 a place with more depth and things to explore, be it side missions or just things that makes it feel worthwhile for you to keep playing the game. Especially since AC1 had the most amazing atmosphere I'd seen in a game (until GTA IV), then it felt slightly sad that you had to replay the game to experience anything interesting afterward. But like I said, if it is indeed Venice, which it seems like everything's pointing towards, then I am super fucking stoked for this game. I guess we'll have to wait until next week though EDIT: Oh and regarding the Animus, then it made me like the world even more. Even if it is a shallow franchise propeller, then I felt it was done so well and cool in the first AC that I kinda bought into the entire thing even more, not too much unlike something like the DeLorean from BTTF Quote
Minos Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 More details surface! Now this got me hyped =) http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/10/dress ... -2-reveal/ Quote

Steppenwolf Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Does it still have this genetic backstory? Because this is the only reason why AC1 still lies around here unplayed. I gave it a try but the backstory instantly killed the immersion for me. Quote
Sentura Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 i dig the art for the new main character Quote
FrieChamp Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Sounds wicked! Say hi to Jamie Wearing, I think he is working on the audio for the game! Quote

st0lve Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Doubt that I'll buy it. First one was even more repeative than Far Cry 2 Quote
-HP- Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Doubt that I'll buy it. First one was even more repeative than Far Cry 2 Another reason that there's some pretty high hopes for this sequel. Devs generally learn from their mistakes... or at least they should! Quote
