Hi

Pics on my latest map hldm_varmsten. its a big map suitable for 6 - 32 players. It contains lots off traps some player controlled...

The map is almost done. I will realese it later this week.

This map takes you to another time in hl-dm. Lets see, wait its egyptian style. Not the best but it looks ok so far.

+The Environment is ok

+It's detailed

+Lighting is ok

+Some cool models

-The sky is ugly and should be removed

-The Lighting is to sick and should be tweaked

-It's almost repeating in the architecture style.

-There are no crates of any kind at all.

Total Score : 87 %

This map can stay about 30 - 40 min in my half life maps folder, but then i remove it from my Hd.

If you like maps with small yellow corridors you should try this one. :-?

huh ? First u say that the lighting is ok and then u say that its too sick ? D:~

I take the Cliff Blezinskis approach.

No crates on a map, is bad because crates makes the map to a gameplay.

What would be with de dust without any crates.?

But it also depends on the map itself. I'm sorry if someone is missunderstanding me about the crates, but they are important as i know. Where would you hide?

Well..This is a dm map but it should have at least 1 crate.

Or man, look at my map co last. I did include a crate in my readyroom.

What kind of setting is de_dust (I'm talking about the hl1 version)? An arabian digging site with nuclear waste the terrorists try to blow up? It really is all about the gameplay in that map. Like this, the map is a little bit easier on the eyes than fy_iceworld, that's it.

However in general you should try to keep crates out of your map. Unless they are placed in warehouses, storages etc. because then there is actually a reason why they are where they are. In other settings try to use different things for cover, like rocks, columns, doorways, pipes, furnitures...If there is not enough cover in a map, fine, tell the mapper to think of something where players can hide, but there doesn't necessarily have to be a "crate" in every map.
