Gloglebag Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Is there any possibility they set the fov at 90 for the pc version, so it doesn't matter that you can't change it. Quote
Taylor Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 P.S. Here is a fun little snippet from Kotaku for Rick: http://kotaku.com/5391324/dedicated-ser ... tor-either Even with the stirring between quotations it seemed more like the guy didn't know the answer . The comments are the best thing about the article, though. Gamers saying that they will pirate the game* while simultaneously asking why nobody listens to them. Though there's not nearly enough people blaming consoles who, after being dormant for decades, are now responsible for all of the worlds problems. * As they still want to play it. But not pay for it support no-dedicated severs. They'll probably cancel PC versions after this iteration. It'd stop a lot of the complaining and probably not cost them much anyway. haha true, I remember the pc sales for modern warfare were laughably low compared to console versions anyway =). Though, if I remember one strongly worded blog post, the amount of players was not. Quote

The PC version sold nearly two million units. A fourth the 360 sales, but it's still TWO MILLION UNITS. I'm pretty sure Activision shareholders would eat them alive if they deliberately threw away all those profits, instead of just obtusely hurting them through mismanagement and the worst PR campaign in history Speaking of bad PR, here's the transcript of that chat the screenshot I posted earlier was from. http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gaming/Cal ... td-p/67692 Quote
mjens Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Actually this gonna be nice SP game with a lot of MP mode fans... Quote
ctswin Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 oh boy, http://kotaku.com/5397149/modern-warfar ... ped-at-9v9 are they having a competition with someone to see who can piss off pc gamers the most? Quote
Izuno Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I feel like my favorite PC shooter MP games are old, one of which is a Call of Duty game. CS DoD original CoD and CoD: United Offensive Wolf: Enemy Territory And thinking back, dedicated servers on the interent and LAN were big reasons why. At this point I'm not going to question why IW is doing what they are doing since I've been planning on playing it on PS3 or 360 anyway. Guess the chips will fall where they may. As much as PC get's maligned these days CoD4 is one of the biggest PC MP games besides WoW. Quote

Nysuatro Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 But they still have the most preorders ever. Quote
Gloglebag Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I like the fact they capped the MP. Playing maps designed and tested for 16 people on 30+ server was ridiculous, well it wouldn't matter if one could find a proper 16 player server but 99% of the servers were 24+. I tried playing cod4 a couple days ago, and I remember why I quit, 1/3 of the deaths was by grenade, and there were constant air raids/ helicopter gunships, which were both the result of so many people playing in such a small space. Still though the following picture is appropriate. Quote

Thrik Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Do you think people would be happier if they just released CoD4 as the PC version's multiplayer? Quote
dux Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 This game is going to be pirated to hell and back. Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Do you think people would be happier if they just released CoD4 as the PC version's multiplayer? This is basically exactly what everyone wants. Just take CoD4's MP and stick in the new weapons and special effects like the tactical nuke, and boom, everyone's happy. Personally, I'd prefer CoD1's multiplayer, I'm in the same boat as Izuno. The absolute newest MP game I've played and liked would be TF2, and that was mostly thanks to the community I gamed with. Ignoring meta-game stuff like that, I liked DoD and Wolf:ET a lot more. Also, holy shit lol at this. http://i37.tinypic.com/14tht2.jpg Quote
