Thrik Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Wow, I had no idea Zimmer was doing the soundtrack. I hope his wonderful film techniques carry well into games! Quote
Lord Ned Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 To break this ugly mood, here is a pretty good article with the writer that helped us out... http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... se-stern/1 ..and another with this Hans guy. http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... s-zimmer/1 As much as I love Hans Zimmer, I'm a hair bit bummed about it. They kinda ditched their old composer as far as I know, unless it will be a co-production. However Hans Zimmer's soundtracks for PotC were excellent and I'm sure it will only add to MW2. Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 P.S. Here is a fun little snippet from Kotaku for Rick: http://kotaku.com/5391324/dedicated-ser ... tor-either Weird that the dude frames it like the only options are peer to peer multiplayer or developer/publisher hosted servers. I don't need you to host the game for me, dawg, that's cool. Just release a dedicated server client, and fans'll take care of that. Of course, while apparently AVP multiplayer is a big deal I owned AvP gold for years before ever even noticing it had multiplayer. I was way more interested in the awesome SP. Quote
Izuno Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Original CoD composer was Michael Giacchino who actually got his start in video games before going onto film. Maybe Hans will retire from film and do games? Perhaps could be a sequel to Trading Places. Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 This right here is just about enough to make me rage like the worst trolls on this issue. What the christ is with console developers and FOV options? When you're playing a console game, you're sitting back from the screen on a couch. When you're playing a PC game, you're sitting a foot from a widescreen monitor right in front of you. The same FOV for one DOES NOT work in the other! It's not even like changing it is something difficult to do, since that's how most zoom-in/iron sight functions work in games. Not giving the player the option to change it is just a lazy, thoughtless oversight that makes it seem like you don't care about people enjoying your game. And that answer is just smug as anything. Considering earlier today I was reading Travis Baldree sincerely apologizing to the few Torchlight players who have experienced bugs, to go right to this is pretty harsh. Quote
Chunks Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Everytime I open this thread I get pissed of more. Their whole design philosophy is just fucked. "Play it how we want you to play it" Last I was taught we are supposed to cater design towards the user, but apparently that has changed now. Just makes me wonder what their focus group testing is like, but it sounds like they never even bothered with that. They aren't getting my $60. I doubt they will notice though seeing as they are swimming in a pool of cash thanks to the brotards on the consoles. That last sentence was clearly biased and ignorant, but i'm just venting (and a little intoxicated) Quote
Lord Ned Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I don't get what's going on... They keep announcing things which the community keeps going "Boo" at, and then they announce another "Boo" item... They just announced 9v9 Max players... That's too big for competition and too small for a good game I'd think? Either way... "• Response to the petition is "All I can say is that we changed it to make it a better and easier experience. Also, not all of the names on that list are legit. Yes, the wink was indeed used in the response." I think it's valid that their trying to make a fair and balanced gameplay but... with no demo and all of these "turn off" features... I just don't know anymore. Reading the replies on some other forums, people are not happy with this. I've seen a lot of "F u's" and "Not paying $60 for this bs", among others... I'm honestly surprised at what their doing. And the "official" response to the pirated copy? Ignored. You said IWnet was created to help stop piracy, what do you say about the Xbox 360 version leaked and shared on torrent sites? Vince-IW IWnet was designed to make the MP experience on PC easier and more balanced. Quote
mjens Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I'll borrow that game from friend and check only SP levels... Quote
FrieChamp Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 In other news MW2 just broke another pre-order record: "By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time," says Tony Bartel, executive vice president for merchandising and marketing at GameStop. "As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network." http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... -/1?csp=34 Quote
Thrik Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 They'll probably cancel PC versions after this iteration. It'd stop a lot of the complaining and probably not cost them much anyway. Quote
D3ads Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I've seen a bunch of rumors that I have been entertained by that Gaz somehow survived the previous game and is back in a different incarnation in this game. I don't remember him even dying in COD4, it's been ages since I played it... I bet you he's now Ghost Quote
Pericolos0 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 They'll probably cancel PC versions after this iteration. It'd stop a lot of the complaining and probably not cost them much anyway. haha true, I remember the pc sales for modern warfare were laughably low compared to console versions anyway =). Quote
st0lve Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Oh boy, now it's narrowing down to buying only if I am able to pay for the game with $, because then it would be like half price of what I'd spend at Steam. Quote
