st0lve Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks for even caring to reply Comp, imagine this thread without your input, it would be an official EOT thread or something. But I still stand my ground on no deds, same as jetset. Maybe you have to prove to us that it works with some free PC copies? Does anyone know if it's only the 360 version that has leaked? Is there any official statement? Quote
-HP- Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 I'd also add to all of this, and this isn't restricted to this thread, that I would like to hold Mapcore to a higher standard than some of the replies I've seen here. There is no way we should act like some random commenters on Neogaf, Kotaku and so on. We know better than this, and when we don't we generally have the members on the game's team to shed some light on the whole thing as Composite has just clearly said. I hope all of you have read this comment! Please, let's try and control ourselves people! Quote
FrieChamp Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 A dead player, for example, could give away the location of the enemy that just killed him without waiting to respawn. This is plain rumour obviously but the writing made me think: Have they never played counter strike? Or natural selection? Or any mp game ever? How do you make this conclusion from the article you quoted from? It suggests that they have learnt from players exploiting the party talk in MW1 and fixed this issue in MW2 by blocking it. Of course this will upset some people who like this feature but then again since when do you care about the console version? Basically what Furyo and HP said, trolling won't be tolerated, keep it constructive guys. Quote
Corwin Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 I personally will be buying the game as soon as I can save enough money for it, and that simply for the singleplayer campaign. I own MW but never actually played the multiplayer until a couple of weeks ago since all you guys were saying how great it is. It's pretty good, a bit confusing because of how much shit is going on at once, but nothing as good as the singleplayer IMO. Rarely have I encountered such high production values in a SP game. That's not to say it features the best story ever or even the most fun gameplay, but there's not a single part of it that I found frustrating, it's beautiful, there's lots of multiple different types of gameplay, and the attention to detail is incredible. It's also one of the only SP games that made me really feel like being part of a team, not a single wastelander against the whole world. Quote

Agreed, not interested in MP games anymore myself so it's SP all the way. I especially loved the briefing screens during loading pauses, so you're not sitting there staring at a boring screen with a picture and "Loading" on it, glad to see there's no change there in MW2 from footage I saw Quote

And I don't give a flying fuck about the console version I was just commenting on the comms. Quote
Lord Ned Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 I agree, I think Frie is misinterpreting some of our stances on the issue. Quote
Thrik Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 It's less what you have to say, and more the abrasive manner in which you're saying it. This kind of thing: IW: LETS COUNTER PIRACY BY MAKING IT FULLY INTEGRATED WITH STEAM AND VAC. Community: Sure sounds good, yay no punkbuster, woo! IW: LETS PROMOTE PIRACY BY RUINING THE FUCKING GAME If you decide to not be more adult about the way you put forth opinions, you'll find you're no longer welcome in an environment primarily populated by industry professionals who don't need to be told that they're "ruining the fucking game" they've spent years on. Just bear in in mind that if at any point you decide to criticise any game, there's a considerable chance someone who worked on it visits MapCore. As such, criticise it like you'd criticise a friend's work — with sensitivity and respect. Because we are all friends here, right? Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 http://www.vg247.com/2009/11/03/modern- ... egy-guide/ This is honestly a brilliant business move, charging more for the strategy guide version with Achievement info, because you know there's a big crowd that'll go nuts for that sort of stuff. You know, I wonder why strategy guides still exist, though. How can they compete with what's freely posted on the internet? I haven't bought a strategy guide since Ocarina of Time. Quote

I probably should have rephrased it better, but my point was still valid. You don't promote anti-piracy through making bad decisions and angering your community. And I wasn't directly attacking anyone's work on MW2 or at IW, I just think the company as a whole is making bad decisions... No one here is responsible for that, nor is any one person at IW responsible. If I offended anyone, I didn't mean to. Quote
