CryEngine 3

^^^ I was going to post that extended video too :)

To be honest I expected something bigger from "CryEngine 3" as well, new never-before seen engine features, but then we would have seen many more "What kind of NASA computer will you need to run that LOL! :v " kinds of comments too. If you can get over these initial expectations, I am quite impressed what Crytek got running on 360 and PS3. I'm sure as more details start to leak through, developers will be excited about the opportunities. Also: European forests, cities, medieval castles? I got the feeling we will see more from Crytek than islands and jungles in the future :)

:D

And yeah, people need to understand that this is not exactly a completly new engine, maybe it should not have been called CE3 in the first place. This is CE2 optimized for consoles.

Also, the next project to be using this engine is still long time away so many modifications and optimizations will still be made.

Research was going on the last two years parallel to development of Crysis, and only with the two things happening at the same time were we able to know how we could actually bring the visual quality of CE 2 into an engine that can actually perform on the console. So that's why CE 3 is not just a little improvement upon CE 2, it's actually a significant rewrite towards a console engine…It's not 2.2, 2.5, it's actually way more for us, and that's why we called it CE 3."

CryENGINE®3 SandboxTM now enables real-time editing of multi-platform game environments; simultaneously

making changes across platforms from CryENGINE®3 SandboxTM running on PC, without

loading or baking delays. The ability to edit anything within the integrated CryENGINE®3 SandboxTM

and simultaneously play on multiple platforms vastly reduces the time to build compelling content

for cross-platform products.

WIN :D
