Thrik Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7892294.stm A Royal Navy nuclear submarine was involved in a collision with a French nuclear sub in the middle of the Atlantic, the MoD has confirmed. The submarines are equipped with sonar to detect other vessels nearby but our correspondent said it be might be the case that the anti-sonar devices, meant to hide the submarines from enemies, were "too effective". "The collision of two submarines, both with nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons onboard, could have released vast amounts of radiation and scattered scores of nuclear warheads across the seabed." Fuckers are lucky. But man, what are the odds of two stealth nuclear submarines colliding in the middle of the Atlantic? Quote
Pericolos0 Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 this is hilarious and also incredibly scary: "The Ministry of Defence needs to explain how it is possible for a submarine carrying weapons of mass destruction to collide with another submarine carrying weapons of mass destruction in the middle of the world's second-largest ocean," he said. Minos Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Now that´s what I call efficient stealth systems Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 It's like that american satellite colliding with a russian military one in the middle of the space Quote
Ginger Lord Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 It's not as bizarre as it sounds as many countries have certain areas of the Atlantic that are perfect for lurking in. They're naturally deep areas, perfectly positioned to allow easy access to anywhere and pretty well hidden from sonar. So they all hide in these little bunk holes, apparantly you can have up to 5 or so Submarines in one of these areas which could be now more than 1km square. Quote
