Jryzac
Hello all, I was wondering if the community would be kind enough to give my portfolio site a good beating. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions that any of you might have. Here's the link. Thanks!
-HP-
Nice, very nice. Pretty varied portfolio you got there, I liked it. Website is very slow tho, making the navigation a bit boring.
Steppenwolf
Yes the website is very slow. I would also put watermarks on all pictures so that people know where its from in case they save it on their hdd. And maybe sort out some pictures. Some seem repetitive, showing the same stuff just from slightly different angles.
Warby
i like it ... you had me at "night bear: the stuffening" i don't think you need a splash screen just go straight to the content
dux
The image that loaded on the main page is 642.39 kB That needs to be reduced big time. Nice work though.
Jryzac
What would be a good file size for my portfolio pics? I would like to reduce size, but not lose too much quality. EDIT* - Gotcha. I am working on reducing file size now. I had converted them, but still left them too large. Thanks.
hessi
agree with the load times. they are horrible and remind me of 56k days. a picture should be loaded in like 1-2 seconds. i got around 50-70kb/s from your host. so use like 150kb per image. if the image is small use even less. content seems fine. menu graphics are fine. the naming of the menu items is confusing to me: "personal" and "team". after i clicked on those i knew what you were trying to say. so just name it "personal work" and "team work" or something like that. or even better: merge those two together and just call it "gallery". good luck with finding a job. seems like the bigger companies lay off quite a lot of employees (EA, THQ, ...). they probably want to get a job too. -HP-
good luck with finding a job. seems like the bigger companies lay off quite a lot of employees (EA, THQ, ...). they probably want to get a job too. most of the people being laid off are mostly HR, QA, etc. They only lay off designers, artists and coders when It's really needed. At least, this is what I think It's been happening.

Jryzac
Thanks for the feed back! I am currently working on: *Reducing image file sizes. (First priority) *Eliminating redundant pictures. *Branding the pics. *Removing splash page. *Adjusting navigation wording. As for the layoffs, it is something I am well aware of. I live in the Dallas area and the town has seen it's share of closings and layoffs. I know of one company that has cut its staff (seems to be mostly artists), but has openings posted for LDs. So, who knows.........
hessi
websites are mostly out of date. so i wouldn't give a shit about what they post there. best thing is to drop an application and wait for a reaction wether there is an opening on the website or not. Vinny Testaverde
the thumbnails are scaled down larger jpgs. the thumbnails should be their own small jpgs
PhilipK
the thumbnails are scaled down larger jpgs. the thumbnails should be their own small jpgs Nice site and that is exactly what bothered me at first glimpse too! You always get alot of ugly aliasing in your images if you scale them down like that.
