Quakis Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 I only managed to get this today, which is quite lucky, since it's been over 6 or more months when I finished it; During 6th Form, I was taking Media Studies as one of my subjects. For the final year I decided to do a short animation using clay, and this was the first time I have done such a project in my life. I learned quite a lot during the production of this. Towards the end I was running out of time and ended up having to quickly drew out my backgrounds and place them over the green screen and pretty much did a quick job of the sound work (ripped from Half Life 2 and Doom) As for the story, I intentionally left it vague for the viewers to decide for themselves what is going on and why. Hearing peoples' opinions on what they thought and what their interpretation of the story was quite interesting. You can question as much as you like and make up your own answers at the end. Who are these people? What is their relationship? Why did they go there? What are the demons? And so on. Enjoy! Quote
Warby Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 fucking A for effort ! i love claymation but i think you really should have spend more time with this thing in storyboard form because pacing/storytelling are like none existing ... i have NO fucking idea whats going on if you want to see a movie that gets its message and motivation across without a single word spoken check this out also notice how much slower everything is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAXTM-m_56k i mean this is an oscar winning short i am sure its UNFAIR to compare but i think you will see my point none the less claymation rocks and you rock for making it Quote
Quakis Posted January 31, 2009 Author Report Posted January 31, 2009 but i think you really should have spend more time with this thing in storyboard form because pacing/storytelling are like none existing ... i have NO fucking idea whats going on Indeed, though it was my first clay animation afterall, I learned a lot and I have a better idea what I would do if I did it again. Pacing is deffinitely one of those things I'd improve on. if you want to see a movie that gets its message and motivation across without a single word spoken check this out also notice how much slower everything is: Pretty neat, deffinitely has a more interesting pace to things - especially as it slowly starts to get faster. none the less claymation rocks and you rock for making it Thanks. I was rather motivated after finish it to doing some in my free time, but that all depends. It was deffinitely fun to work on, yet fustrating at other times. There were some points I had to remake my models to stop them falling down, and other problems during the beginning of the course that wasted time (giving me less time before the final deadline) Quote
ShaDoW Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Awesome job, Quakis. While I agree with the stuff mentioned earlier in this thread (that some things could have been improved) but you obviously recognize this, so no worries there. I'm sure that if you ever make another one, all those flaws will be ironed out. For the rest, I fucking enjoyed some of the fight scenes and the female character. It must have been really tricky getting some of that stuff to work right. Quote
2d-chris Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Cool For some reason it reminded me of THE CLAW Quote
Spellbinder Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Good stuff Quakis. 10/10 for effort. Quote
