dux Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Yeap so can't wait for this! Gonna rock man. Quote
Steppenwolf Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Indeed. Most anticipated game for me this year. Quote
Warby Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 i thought all total war games so far were super boring ... that is shogun and rome that i played. i don't understand what the fascination here is somebody care to enlighten me ? Quote
Steppenwolf Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Pure awesomeness, immersion, epicness and addiction. Quote
dux Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 It's just so peic, the fights you can have are brilliant. And it really makes you think about the units to use and how to defend your empire. Defending your castle or forts against the enemy is so much fun, too. Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted January 16, 2009 Author Report Posted January 16, 2009 Well i don't know for the others, but i love the totalwar series for : - The historical consistency, it makes you learn stuff and the game become really immersive by making you using real tactics. Also there's really a lot of different units so you discover new things quite often. - The complex gameplay, flanking, combination of troops, using the right unit at the right moment. - The sandbox feel, it is a bit a "make your story" sort of game, if you can't get into it you won't like the game for very long; like this time i was fighting the army of william wallace as a finish general and totally owned his ass, you put yourself achievements and then you are kinda "proud" of how you did things. Haha i don't know if i explained that very well, but it's like a child playing a lego game other children have, but for him it's his unique lego game. Quote
e-freak Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Wait a second. The series is based on real events but it is certainly not historical correct. I can't reference a good example now since I didn't play the games in the last two years but it had alot of cliches and stuff. If you want to learn something about the era the specific game is based on, better get some decent books That said: The game is imho a bit too slow paced and I don't like the global operating system (switching between world map and battles). But I can see the fun in it, kinda like Risk with super cool effects and extra possibilities. Quote
dux Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Honestly my German friends, spend some time with it and you will enjoy it. It isn't meant to be historically accurate, just historical. And hella fun. Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 I don't say it's an accurate educational game, but it has enough historical battles in it to make yourself looks smart when at some dinners! Quote
aevirex Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 I loved listening to some of the melancholic tunes in Rome while wiping out other nations. I hope Empires lives up to Rome. Quote
arhurt Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Total War is epic. Playing it again right now and can't wait to get my hands on this new one. My latest battle: Quote
Inveramsay Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Looks like they took a few notes from CoH which is a good thing. Total War has always been about the struggle to put troops in the right place and the right mix of them, no single unit can win the war, sure a big bunch of cavalry will nuke peasants but so will most things. Then add to that the monetary aspect. Quote
