Hum, hello guys.

First, i must prevent you 'cause i'm french. And 'cause i had a very bad level in enlgish. I just read, not write.

So, Hello !

This is my first message and, i know that the question must be a "very-repeatful-question", but i find nothing on what i want.

What i want ?

I want to mod a weapon.

Yeah. I have already done the model in 3DSMAX, and i'm texturing now with photoshop since 2 days.

I know some things for modding a weapon for HL2 :

- It must have 2 models : for players and for worldplayers.

- it must have coding : i'm ready to learn what can help me.

- and i found a lot of tutorials wich explain how to modify code and etc...

So, my question is : do you know a very great tutorial from creating a weapon for HL2. A complete tutorial from A to Z.

That's two weeks i am search on the web to find one, but all i found is poor and not complete.

So ? can you help me. And sorry for my english. :roll:

PS : And if you are gentle, i will show you my WIP pistolgun ! :v

a simple replacement model (visuals only) doesnt need any coding.

ally you need is a model that is attached to the default skeleton for the weapon you want to replace, export the model to an smd file, compile the exported smd with the animation smd files you decompiled to get the skeleton and ziiiiing. there you go. this is my a-z tutorial.

Yes, that what i have decided to try. When i finish the texturing ^^

But, can i make a NEW weapon. Yeah I think ?

But it need code, no ?

And if nobody has a tuto, i'm open for a lot of explaination of "howtodo" :P

PS : en gros, pour les francophones, je cherche une personne capable, et ayant le temps de m'apprendre pas à pas comment faire le tout :D:zoidberg: (this smiley is fun ! )

well if you want to make new weapons that act different to the game itself then you want to make a complete mod, that everybody has to download and install. oh and by the way: for someone of your knowledge that might be too much at a time. you better start with replacing a default weapon. that's enough work for the first time.

writing a mod does require more programming knowledge and can't be learned by just reading a tutorial. so to keep frustration low: concentrate on arts OR programming.

So, i think i will try to do, for start, a weapon replacement. ^^

You said that i just had to replace the visual. In 3Dmax ? I import .mdls file and i compile ?

If you want to learn how to create ur own custom weapon (modeling/unwrapping/texturing/compiling) using 3ds max for src, check those keywords on Google:

Btw Hessi is right! Don't ask for a whole tutorial... Practicing is the way to go!

EDITH / I found the 3parts tuto on FPSbanana... I never see it before.. XD

EDITH2 / Arrrrhg ! All the link i've found are broken ! The files are corrumpted ! It must be the 5 website i visit and where the file is corrumpted !

Soooo... I don't find the 3part tutorial on the net. All links are broken or corrupted.

But !

But, i have tried something on animation ! Da !

And i found how animate my weapon model and hands player. SMD exporter ! Oh yeah.

Juste the weapon. The hand cause me problem,now.

So, i had a pic to show you my WIP and my motivation into this project ! 'Cause i know there is many guy who come here and want all, but do nothing. ( I think english people dosn't understand my bad language. )
