Mazy Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Pretty okay for a first model ever. At least u got extruding down, took me ages to find that lol Quote
Skjalg Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Posted November 9, 2004 well, took me just 4-5 tutorials to figure that one out... but how do i see how many faces ive used? oh, and btw, heres more modeling goodyness ... its a chair.. Quote
Skjalg Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Posted November 9, 2004 well, this time i figured i should follow a tutorial... front of the screen: back: so.. thats my 3rd model... this one was really helpful tho, i learned to how to use the slice tool, chamfering, deleting polygons and did some leet beveling :] Quote
tnoh Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Looking good for first models. My first model was pretty simple coffee mug Quote
Skjalg Posted November 10, 2004 Author Report Posted November 10, 2004 here i took use in the stuff i just learned, creating something of my own (offcourse this object har probably been created countless of times before me, perhaps also in the exact same dimensions ) wohoo a barrel.. EDIT: i actually tried making a stupid mug just now, the problem was the handle.. i just couldnt figure out how to weld two edges properly Quote
OL Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 you shouldnt use the slice tool for that monitor, instead connect the edges. (select both and connect tool in edit poly) much faster and more exact or even inset for that matter Quote

(select both and connect tool in edit poly) much faster and more exact or even inset for that matter what in the world are you talking about? i used the slice tool at the very beginning of the model (sliced the bottom thing in two, and extruded it up to make the back supporting stuff..) OL Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 ya instead of slice u connect so you get a straight line altho i was looking at the screen part it still applies, just a tidbit of knowledge for a fledgeling modeler Quote

Kedhrin Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 well, its possible to get a perfectly straight line with slice, but you better double checkk, use the un uniform scale and scale the axis where they are supposed to be straight to 0% Quote
Mazy Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 that barrel is just screaming 4 sum smoothing groups D: Quote
Skjalg Posted November 10, 2004 Author Report Posted November 10, 2004 Ok, so basicly, the slice tool is very fucked up and i should never ever touch it again (just like in hammer) ? that barrel is just screaming 4 sum smoothing groups D: yeah... what is that? and how do i use it? Quote
OL Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 its not fucked up modifiers-smoothe Quote
