hessi
Well, since Christmas is right ahead, i am curious what you buy or bought for your families and friends. Hopefully those people don't read this thread at mapcore. I am sure mine do not my mother is getting a new refrigerator since the old one broke and those beasts are fucking expensive. My dad will get an external HDD because his PC recently broke and i had to backup via USB 1.0 on MY old barely used linux computer (i got another one that is used more frequently). my sister will get a tshirt with some cool print. there is a store in town that sells all kinds of t-shirts with our beloved cartoon characters and goods of the 80s and early 90s. Probably i will go for a sesame street t-shirt. my girlfriend might get something colorful since she wears too much black (if it comes down to me). maybe i will buy a shirt for her as well but that wouldn't be too creative. i know a shop that sells a ring she would definitely love, but that one is kind of too expensive and the relationship might not be yet ready for such a symbolic gift. so tell what is in your mind and make this a damn good christmas
Warby
i don't buy into the christmas consumerism rush i mean this entire system is so fucked: you buy X amount of gifts for Y amount of people costing you Z amount of money: now the same relatives and friends will buy the same amount of gifts for an almost identical circle of people. so if you are lucky you will receive gifts for the same amount of value that you spend so you have not lost anything except some money all of a sudden turned into material goods that you didnt have an immediate need for and are much less versatile than money ... BUT of course the ugly truth is the choice of presents goes through what i call familyiscluesleesaboutyourfieldofinterests" filter so they will always get you the wrong items, items you already own or down right items you don't want or like and i am just as bad as everyone else in my family in this regard to be honest ! so i don't give any gifts and when people ask me what i want i always tell them the same thing: "nothing". if i come across something that i know my sister/mom/dad/buddy/grandma would LOVE and it would totally surprise them than i will pick it up right than and there. it doesn't take a "special" occasion for me to do this all it needs is this .... SPARK of inspiration and that can happen at any time during the year. zacker here from mapcore for example he got the GIFT OF GOD OF WAR from me totally out of the blue during the summer ^^
KoKo5oVaR
So far : I hate this period of the year, it's too much brainstorming, but maybe it's because i like to offer really weird gifts

e-freak
I've no clue but as Warby mentioned it's alot of BS Consuming involved in most christmas presents. Though Hessi presented some good ones with thought. I had a creative phase like that last year but I seem to be unable to come up with anything this year. Grandparents will most probably both get the same present as always, mum, dad, 2 sisters, gf and maybe some friends could get something. Oh and I'm currently planning a short animation about consumerism on christmas for university project but I'll just open another thread for that I suppose. hessi
actually this thread is addressed to those people who participate on buying christmas gifts. this is not about ranting on consume and commerce on christmas.
-HP-
I've been so busy I barely had the time to think on what the hell am I going to offer! I'm only going to offer presents to 4 people, my mom and 2 brothers, and my girlfriend. It concerns me that I have no idea what I'm going to offers, especially that latest in the list. Suggestions please?!
