KittySparkles Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Hey guys (& girls?), [Warning] I recently started a new project, and I would like to use a version control system. Basically, this system makes the devs able to commit or update stuff from a local folder, connected to an FTP. You then don't have to access FTP's or databases, but you are able to stay on the latest version of the project. Now I tried using TortoiseSVN, and tried to connect this to our FTP. Unfortunately I was not able to set up SVN correctly, because my PC constantly freezes when I try to connect. So my question is, what kind of programs / methods do you guys use to stay on the latest version of the project? Thanks in advance, - Kitty. Quote
jaboo224 Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 At insurgency we use SVN. But we have someone with a vast knowledge of setting that kind of shit up and someone who has the time to maintain it. Quote
Thrik Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 SVN is pretty much the cross-industry standard for version control. We use SVN for web projects (I work in web design/development), and any project I've ever been involved with that has version control has also used SVN. TortoiseSVN has always been the client of choice. Quote
KittySparkles Posted December 2, 2008 Author Report Posted December 2, 2008 Then it seems I have to contact our company's administrators. Thanks! Quote
e-freak Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 afaik SVN doesn't work on FTP Protocolls. But I'dn't bet as I didn't do any SVN setup in the last 2 years. Quote
KittySparkles Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 Yeah already made it running on our company server <3 Quote
