Thrik Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Yes, in all seriousness the constantly abrasive shtick is getting a bit old and mildly tedious. Quote
Rick_D Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 baww, not doing it like it's my "thing" i am just saying, source is looking pretty ugly, when you look at it. apologies if anyone has hurt feelings. this i did not intend.. Quote
Skjalg Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Hehe I will have to agree. The engine is starting to look dated, but it has its charms as well Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Hehe I will have to agree. The engine is starting to look dated, but it has its charms as well I don't think BM:S is using the OB Source engine though, since its requirements are HL2 and CSS, so it's less that the engine is getting dated, and just that the mod's based on a now six year old game. If they made this based on Quake 2, would you all be saying "Goddamn IDTech sucks now"? Also I never progressed past 2005 in PC gaming so that still looks great to me Quote
Surfa Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 They are using the ob engine but are mounting the content from cs:s (as far as I know). Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 We're using the OB engine, and other than the files available to the SDK install everything is created by us, we remade a lot of CSS content so we could drop it from our requirements. Quote
Zacker Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 A piece comment from a dedicated Black Mesa fan: Black Mesa looked amazing a few years back, but it is indeed showing it's age by now. A little sad that it won't be the visuals nor the tech which will make me want to be play it, but more the fine original story, gameplay and level design. In which case I might almost as well be playing the original HL? Quote
robert.briscoe Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Personally I think it looks great! Can't wait to get my hand on this! Quote

Section_Ei8ht Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 BMS will be epic if it is released two years ago. Quote

Bought hl source Good job paying money for a useless copy of HL that has nothing at all over the original except ragdolls. Personally the best part of HL is getting access to all the Goldsrc mods, and HL:S is useless for that. Quote
D3ads Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 I will definately be playing BMS, look at it. It is fucking dripping in quality. The SP story looks mindblowingly good. Along with a co-op side story? Fuck yes sign me up for that shit mother fucker. Quote
twiz Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Are you guys seriously saying this looks bad? Sure it isn't next-gen mindblowing graphics, but it still looks extremely good. It's a mod, and an epic huge mod at that. It is amateur developers doing this for free in their spare time. Of course it is going to take a long time and every aspect isn't going to be perfection. Geez, mapcore is the last place I'd expect people to jump on a dedicated group of modders because they're using a SLIGHTLY dated engine. For shame. BMS is like a tribute to mapcore. Modders paying tribute to HL1, the basis of mapcore's birth. Quote from the MapCore Wikipedia page: MapCore was founded in 2000 by Mark "Anarchy" Long under collaboration with several other designers and artists from the Half-Life development community Quote

I think it looks amazing, especially considering the age of the engine. I've seen worse looking games come out in previous years. Quote
Serenius Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 People acting like this is looking like Raven Squad/Rogue Warrior up in here. Quote
