Kamikazi! Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 doh, forgot my next question. Do bump maps have to be normal maps? I tried using a grey height map and compiled the texture, but ingame it just shrinks itself down to like .1 size and doesn't appear to even be bumped.

I think i've set everything up right, the model compiles, the textures compile and show up in hammer, but when i put my model in hammer i get the purple checker pattern :s the model is located in ...\sourcesdk\cstrike_sample_content\models\insurgency and the model texture in ..\sourcesdk\cstrike_sample_content\materials\models\insurgency this is the .qc file: // Output .MDL $modelname insurgency/peri_roof1.mdl $cdmaterials models/insurgency $staticprop // Write textures into a ???T.mdl //$externaltextures $scale 1.0 // whole body $body studio "./peri_roof" // sequences: all sequences are in $cd $sequence idle "peri_roof_idle" loop fps 15 $collisionmodel "peri_roof_col.smd" { // Mass in kilograms $Mass 100 $concave } i tried some fiddling with the paths and folders but no dice ;( any suggestions?

I tried using a grey height map and compiled the texture, but ingame it just shrinks itself down to like .1 size and doesn't appear to even be bumped. you need to run the bump map through a converter in photoshop (or otherwise) to convert it into a normal its painless and easy, nvidia and ati both make good ones (and nvidias is right in photoshop) google on brotha.
