skdr Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Yes. There is video available where Gabe introduced Source's HDR tech... I heard that Valve disabled it from HL2 but it will be enabled later Download the video: http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/ ... 2.exe.html
Kamikazi! Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 what happened to triggering dynamic terrain like in the e3 movie?
Pericolos0 Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 i'm trying to make a cool moving cloud shader. To give the illusion of the clouds changing shapes, i though it might be cool to have an alpha map that scrolls abit slower than the basetexture. Is this possible? I'm sure ive saw sth similar in source on the force fields. But i have no idea how to do that ;p the info on the shaders is quite poor imo
Duff-e Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 the tops of the garbage cans in the very beginning look hdrish
skdr Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 no, theyre just some sort of shaders. there arent any hdr in hl2 at the moment.

zaphod Posted November 19, 2004 Author Report Posted November 19, 2004 what happened to triggering dynamic terrain like in the e3 movie? there is a terrain deforming entitiy that you can place and have the terrain around it get pushed or pulled in a certain radius around the entitiy. That being said, it's obviously not dynamic.

Pericolos0 Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 yeah i seem to understand the basics of working with proxies. I got the texture scrolling Thing is, i found out how to get alpha maps in, but only with 32bit tgas I really have no clue how to make that alpha have a different scrollin speed. meh i'll look more into the sdk docs...
X-Tender Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 make an own alphamap and let it scroll ..
nico Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 is it just me who cannot get the HL2 textures and models? cause ive bought the game, should i not be able to get them? or are they hidden inside some funky filetypes one cannot open?
