Steppenwolf Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I used to play racing games a lot when i was a teenager. Microprose F1 Grand Prix being the best racing game ever imo. I was so addicted to that game and back in the days it felt so realistic i was thinking i could drive a real F1 car just from the experience with the game Then came Grand Prix 2, which was even better. I had one of the first generations steering wheels i think. Pretty expensive thing from Thrustmaster. It felt more like a real steering wheel then all the cheap plastic shit that they sell nowadays. 10 laps in GP 2 with that thing felt like 1 hour in the gym. Was fucking awesome. They dont make games like Grand Prix series anymore tho. They either get the steering wrong or the cars feel realistic but the racing modes are completely silly. Quote

Taylor Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I suck so hard at proper racing games, I was given the controller for Grid at work and I think they were expecting something from me. If I can 1cc Cave games I must absolutely slaughter this, right? Wrecked my car on the first corner. Old school Ridge Racer, Pure, Mario Kart, etc is no problem, where the brake button is superfluous and you can hit the buttons funny and have the game stick your car to a spline on the corners opposed to that tedious awareness and turning nonsense. cyberjunkie Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I'm a BIG racing sim fan! LFS, GTR2, Richard Burns Rally, rFactor! NFS till NFS:HP2 were great. NFS4: High Stakes being the best of them People who want realistic racing games should definitely give LFS a try. It's definitely not the prettiest racing sim nor is it the best sounding one. The physics, the handling, the clean racer community, tweaking options, web based statistics/control panel, excellent netcode, the right sensation of speed, the tiiiggght races (ones that go on for 20-30mins and where racers finish within 2-3 seconds of each other make it a must-try. http://www.liveforspeed.net - There's a demo. If you try it, you won't like it immediately. It has a slightly steep learning curve but it's all goooood when you get the hang of it. A clip from one of my races. Some other LFS videos Life For Speed and Early NFS games. A Live For Speed player?! What's your ID? I'm cyberjunkie. Add me on LFSWorld (http://www.lfsworld.net) We must race sometime! Quote

Good Call about RBR, i forgot to mention it. edit: GTR2 and rFactor felt like the same game and afaik were made by the same guys who worked in past on some nascar games or something. Oh man the interface is terrible in these games lol... Quote
