Lets talk racing games!

Let’s talk racing games because I know I’m not the only car enthusiast here!

I used to be a console-only racer because I preferred the joystick over the keyboard, but then I invested in a decent wheel and pedals for the PC and got a few racing games and fell in love with PC simulators.

Really, the first racing game I loved on the console was Rallisport Challenge for Xbox. There was NOTHING that could touch that game. I didn’t know what rallying was when I picked up the game, but I knew it looked fun in the videos and pictures. After beating it, my friend and I became VERY competitive against each other. Then Rallisport Challenge 2 came out and that’s when I got into rallying pretty heavy. I wanted a Subaru since I played the first Rallisport Challenge (which, I do own a Subaru now… haha), then last year, I attended my first rally in the Rally America series up at Wellsboro, PA. Damn, that was a good time. Whoever said games don’t influence real life?? Hopefully in the next five or six years, I will be able to compete in one or two rallies and manage to keep the shiny side up :D.

Last December, I picked up a steering wheel and pedals for my computer and a copy of WTTC 07. For s&g, I turned off all assist and made it as realistic as possible… and I fell in love with it. I picked up DIRT and GRID, and while I love DIRT because it’s everything offroad, it just doesn’t play as smooth as GRID. My only gripe with racing games is that there is never an editor that comes with them. I’d give my left *clears throat* and my first born to make rally stages. Does anyone know of any good racing games that include a level editor?

So what racing games do you like? It’d be neat to get a mapcore group together =).

I became fully engrossed in forza motor sport two for a long time, i just had a blast playing it. i lost interest eventually due to redundancy and better stuff to do. im a sucker for realistic driving games and this was spot on. i hated driving american muscle cars though. i was able to by the car i currently own and mod it to be awesome and that just made me warm and fuzzy inside.

Ima playing Flatout 2 alot recently and I used to play Track Mania alot. And at a friends who build his own pedals and has a Logitech Momo-Force I also played GTR - i tried to play that with my keyboard and mouse and decided I need pedals and wheel as well but the wheel i bought sucked and so I never went for a realistic racing game again.

Oh and had a good time in NFS2SE and tried out Midnight Club 2 and NfS Underground (2), Carbon, Most Wanted and so on but the old NFS is still the best (FZR2000 on Hollywood track!!!!)
