atrocity Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Arena_Goldtooth: Here is an Arena level I made and tested with the guys from Gearbox. It took about 2-4 weeks to make with some pretty extensive testing. The level consist of 2 Spawns that have 3 exits each, and a center building that houses the Capture Point. Players will spawn and have the option to drop down and head straight for the action, go our the side door and on the ridge, or take a set of stairs and down the coal chute onto the roof. The center building is a 2 story building with a large roof that allows players to gain higher ground while being very exposed. The capture point will activate after 30 seconds into the round, and there is a medium health kit in the center building on the bottom floor. Hope you guys like it. e-freak Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 On these screenshots (I'm at Uni right now so i can't test it myself) it looks like it could use some kind of color/hotspots in it as it currently looks too monotone regarding color-palette and brushwork Quote
Freak Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I just think it is too empty, the rest looks good. Quote
atrocity Posted October 23, 2008 Author Report Posted October 23, 2008 Thanks Shinobi hows things goin on your end? Been awhile. e-freak: I actually used the light settings valve used for badwater, I looked em up on their wiki. freak: That actually may be one of the larger complaints I got. I think it could use some props but with how tight the game space is I got worried about people running into the extra details. Quote
e-freak Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 e-freak: I actually used the light settings valve used for badwater, I looked em up on their wiki. #1: That's not what I was trying to point out: I thought some elements on eye-level could really add to readability if you just give some other colors in there (strong red or blue or anything that's not brown to give hints on hotspots and stuff) and some change in architecture or different buildings and enviroment to help reminding certain spots. #2: The light-setup in the wiki is nice but shouldn't keep you from playing around with different settings #3: I might be completely wrong with my inputs as it's "just" an arena-map and not that big as it seems on the screenshots.
