FrieChamp Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 They are allowed to make a song with quotes, but when that song is in a game it's bad? I don't get it. no. it's just that when there's a chance muslims will be offended, you have to calculate the very potential risk. it's sad, but it's true. you haven't forgotten the comic issue, right? I see what's offensive with creating new and offensive material, but I don't get what's offensive by using material that is already created and "approved". Ok, LBP might not be the best game to add religious songs, but hey. From the BBC article linked in the first post: Manzoor Moghal, of the Muslim Forum think-tank, explained that words from the Koran should not be set to music because the words are seen to have come directly from God. He added: "We must compliment Sony for taking decisive action by withdrawing these games immediately, and releasing a version that is not offensive to Muslims." So it isn't an issue related exclusively to videogames in the first place. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Unfortunately muslims don't speak with a single voice, so you get all kinds of different feedback from such events from the muslim community, depending on how conservative the person is and how he interpretes the Koran.
