Mazy Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 i don't understand how people who play through killzone can get bored with bioshock... it just doesn't make sense to me Just curious, did you play through Killzone? Quote
Sentura Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 i tried, got frustrated and bored halfway through Quote
jaboo224 Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 I found killzone to be 5x better than bioshock. But then again im not big on the whole "horror" corridor shooter thing like doom \: Not to mention Killzone2 has multiplayer I bought bioshock and was seriously disappointed with it :{ . I got bored 2 hours in and dropped it. Tbh i think mood comes into play with games.... I naturally go toward these war epics more so than horror games because thats my taste \: i think the mood/style really effects the gameplay.... Quote
Thrik Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 i tried, got frustrated and bored halfway through Pretty much sums up my BioShock experience. I was enjoying it, but at a certain point I realised it was just underwater room after underwater room full of Splicers, turrets, or Big Daddies, and it just started to bore me. I never did see the fuss about its gameplay — I know you could mix things up a lot by using your various abilities and tools, but I just couldn't be bothered coming up with superfluously elaborate ways of doing things. The artistic direction and atmosphere was remarkable, though. Until I got bored it was the best game ever. Reminds me of my experience with Doom 3 actually, come to think of it. Quote

Thrik Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 No, although I've had no cause to not continue playing/enjoying it (reached the second chapter a week or so ago). I just take games slowly — I'm still semi-regularly playing through Uncharted, which I started in 2007 yet still love every session. Quote
Furyo Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I had the same experience playing Bioshock, I could have mixed things up a lot with the plasmids and guns, but I never felt the need to. The game simply didn't require it, so I didn't bother either. I did finish it yes, and I remember that the initial awe of the artistic direction kinda wore out rather rapidly. Certain things were fresh enough throughout the game, but that wasn't enough not to feel a certain sense of rinse and repeat art wise. I need to play it again though. Quote
-HP- Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 I need to play it again though. Definitely! Quote
Ginger Lord Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Play through it on Hard. Fuck me it was haaaaard. Took me months to get through it, had to sum up each encounter with its pros/cons on whether to fight or run like a girl. Big daddys took 6 direct hit grenades to kill lol. Started playing on Easy and found it boring, I'm halfway through and can pretty much kill anything with the wrench and a Plasmid hit. Quote
