Punky Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 ":1u926b9r]Someone is still not familiarized with the concept o "Valve time". I know valve time, I was only hoping that they were going to make an exception for an awesome game like this... but meh, guess Valve stays Valve... Quote
Ginger Lord Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I think a few people are downloading it as according to steam my download will be done in 9.5 days. Quote
dux Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I thought that was how long the demo was active for or something. Says 6.5 for me though. Quote
Ginger Lord Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I thought that was how long the demo was active for or something. Says 6.5 for me though. Yeah there is that as well, I had the other window open where it says "You will be able to play in xxx minutes/hours/days". Quote
Punky Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Yeah it's downloading, and tomorrow it's Wednesday so I'll have time to play it! yay! finally Quote
Ginger Lord Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 15% in 1.5 hours Gotta be the slowest download from steam ever, crawling at 40kb/s, usually get 400! Quote
e-freak Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 just keep your machines running and restart steam from time to time. They have already extended bandwith to more than 70 gigabytes per second. Quote
dux Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Just played with my friend but had to stop because you can't can't change the fov above 90 so he got really sick. Was good fun for the 20 mins we played. Quote
Psy Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Takes forever to find a fucking server. Quote
Ginger Lord Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I take it its all about the MP action, seeing as I just played the single player campaign, on the hardest setting and didn't get anywhere near dieing. Will have to play some MP another time, not keen on the menu, very "consolified". Quote
Chunks Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 This new matchmaking system isn't cutting it, imo. It either connected me to a laggy server or ended up asking me if I wanted to host the game. Ended up just using hte old school browser, worked 100x better. So far either noone has voice or I join a game that has one guy using it and telling everyone they are idiots. I'm now patiently awaiting my friends to get their hands on the demo/game, then the game will be a blast. The game has been crashing on me frequently... anyone else having problems? edit: I was having the download issue as well, I had to pause and resume it a few times to start the dl up again because it kept on hanging up. MJ Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Left 4 Dead Demo Now Available For the Public Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 http://www.left4dead411.com/forums/inde ... topic=5674 Turns out the rumors regarding L4D being taxing as fuck on servers are wrong. A Dual CPU server with 8 GB RAM and linux can run 40 instances of L4D, supporting 120-140 players. Quote
