insta Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 I was gonna make some snide remark about an abundance of explosive barrels but then I remembered that Deus Ex 1 was LOADED with explosive and poisonous barrels. So it's consistent! Quote
Sentura Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 hp they're not wrong in the way they've done alternate paths. i think it's a major problem that people do not seem to understand that in creating alternative paths you create content for players of a different playstyle. so one of the paths don't suit you. fine, don't take it. my supervisor at uni back when i did my bachelor thesis had done a ph.d. on exactly this, and honestly it's what gaming needs to do. remove those single path killzone halo shooters and bring on the shooters that cater to different people, not just a single player type. madgernader Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 A Crate : YES. A stool : NO. WTF?? Your just not thinking like Adam Jenson... I don't think choices will be too limited, the demo area shown was small, I'm sure (hoping) that with larger maps comes more choices. Quote

Jetsetlemming Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 There was a couple seconds in there that looks exactly like Hell's Kitchen, the basketball court where you can save a bum from getting robbed by thugs, and go on further down an alley and get access to a hidden entrance to the Smuggler. -HP- Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/05 ... deus-ex-3/ This game isn’t just good, it’s fantastic. This is the obvious one. The art design is gorgeous, there’s loads to explore, and the whole package is so polished you can see your grinning face in it. mm Quote
dux Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Human Revolution’s hateful reliance on pre-rendered cutscenes definitely does. These clips are only ever very short, and only occur during the main story missions about once an hour, but they’re still irritating every single time. Put another way, during the game’s most dramatic moments, the game doesn’t just take control away from you, it abandons the rendering engine for a rolling video that looks completely different. The last game to have this sickness quite as bad was Arkham Asylum. You have to kill him. Or rather, you have to injure him enough so that the game can take over and show you Jensen being forced to kill in a pre-rendered cutscene. Which struck me as a pretty miserable ending to everything up to that point. So there you have it! Deus Ex: Human Revolution arrives this August. Be more excited about it than you’ve been for any other game ever made, but also preemptively disappointed. You know it makes sense. Bleh. I REALLY hate control being taken away from me. And it's pretty absurd that it's found it's way into the one game that gave you complete control. Oh well. I expect that I'll still enjoy it. Quote
Mazy Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Seems like a small price to pay if everything else is as stellar as he makes it sound. Definitely a close second to L.A. Noire for my most anticipated game of the year, sounds like they're nailing it this time around (though I guess the same could've been said about DX2 from previews). Quote
