Zyndrone Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Hey guys! Here is my singleplayer map I made for Citizen-132. The map is suppose to be a prison, and some corridors. It is very large, so I haven't really spent any time on going over the brushwork/textures or added any details. Give me criticism as you like. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 looking very good. might be going a little overkill on the glow effects, though. Quote
Zyndrone Posted October 30, 2004 Author Report Posted October 30, 2004 heh yea I know. I placed them out once to test, and never deleted them after that. Quote
Minos Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 veery kewl zyn~~ /me pets anway, u made me remember that I have a map to finish D: (/me opens hammer) Quote
Fullauto Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 I get a slight Goldeneye vibe off it. Fairly good, but bland imo. Still, kudos for the first indoor FC map I've seen here Quote
-Stratesiz- Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Some of the areas feel like they lack purpose. There is no specific detail that stands out which makes it look generic and deatmatchy. Overall it looks good but doesn't feel special or give you a sense of realism in terms of defined structure and layout. I'm sure you'll add detail that will give it some more purpose though. Quote
Duff-e Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 if you're going to use farcry you HAVE to put water somewhere. water is the make or break factor in farcry....god knows i hated the levels where there were no water. Quote

Eh..Farcry is only good because the WATER. and nothing more.. Anyway, judging from the screens it's looking nice. More detail and less glows would be good but you know that already. My only advise is that you might gonna run into serious performance trouble if you don't place lights carefully. You can have thousands of polygons in farcry interiors but the placement of lights should be considered when laying out the architecture. Quote
Zyndrone Posted October 31, 2004 Author Report Posted October 31, 2004 Yes I noticed that you have to be very carefull how you place the VIS areas. Actually I had to make all the lights into static because othervise I would get 1 fps or so. Also if you want to have a playable map, you cant make the layout like I have done. Sucks. Quote
FrieChamp Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 You can do some pretty stuff in farcry interior maps but these features also create many limitations mappers have to consider. Keep going man, you are on the right way Quote
spine Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Wow that looks sweet! Bet it's the texes that gives me that feel! Quote
