R_Yell Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Congratulations to everyone involved in these mods, it's a great initiative and I thank Valve for this, never is too late. My only concern is what is going to happen with the already weak Source mod community. I mean if some mods which are already ignored will be even more ignored due the massive media attention will get those spotted mods. Time will tell. Quote
2d-chris Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Mods will get updated like every other game on steam Hey Ryell Quote
Zacker Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 So finally Steam now is now able to do what HL and WON could do more than 5 years ago... Michael, We don't actually list mods in the format anymore since we don't have a "Mod browser" like the old HL stuff used to have. The best thing to do is to release your mod and when you have some players, it'll show up listed on this page: http://www.steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html At that point, we can change your mod's listing on the page to hyperlink to the homepage for the mod. Hope that helps, Yahn Quote

If there's any mod that deserves attention, it's Fistful of Frags. No Guns (melee, dynamite, bow only) matches in FoF with friends is some of the best fun I've had multiplayer ever. Quote
e-freak Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Won could automatically update mods and host servers for fast dls and updates? I had some "Mod Game" Button in my games but never had anything like autoupdate o_O Quote
m8nkey Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I really hope this increases both awareness and the playerbase of Source mods (which is damn low, at least here in Australia). A suprising amount of gamers are completely oblivious to mods. You got ripped off R_Yell. I would have thought FoF's unique gameplay, regular content updates and continual improvement would make it an obvious choice. I'm very curious about what's involved for a mod to become a part of Steamworks. Quote

Thank you, it's always nice to know people enjoys with FoF You got ripped off R_Yell. I would have thought FoF's unique gameplay, regular content updates and continual improvement would make it an obvious choice. I think, and I'm completely honest here, FoF doesn't have more right to be there than the mods they picked. And I'd pick mods like PVK2 or Empires before FoF, there's a lot of quality out there, and more coming like Offlimits, Neotokyo... And if Valve is interested in singleplayer, The Willows looks like something to look for I was planning to release FoF 2.0 at the end of this week, ported to OB + many nice additions. Then knew about all these mods coming through Steam pretty much the same day Funny coincidences. But yeah, I hope more people plays mods, outside those behind Valve's umbrella. Quote
jaboo224 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 offlimits owns my face pretty good Quote

KoKo5oVaR Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Better than never , i'm actually really surprised to not see PVK2 on the list. Quote

Spellbinder Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I couldn't work out if any of them are single player but as far as i can see none are, to bad. Anyway way to go Valve, about time too. Quote
