Thrik Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 The Samsung Sentry Gun, intended to guard demilitarised zones in Korea (presumably to replace the mines, etc): [*:x7njfk7e]Armed with a 5.5-millimeter K3 machine gun [*:x7njfk7e]Two cameras: one for day-time and one for infrared night vision [*:x7njfk7e]Can track and identify targets from up to 2.5 miles away in the daytime and about half that distance at night [*:x7njfk7e]Microphone and speaker system to exchange passwords with human soldiers [*:x7njfk7e]Capable of picking out a human target and can accurately track/shoot him or her in the heart http://www.naturalnews.com/021248.html Makes TF2 Engineer's sentries look a bit mediocre. Ought to be hitting the market about now if it hasn't already based on the dates, too. All they need to do is put it on one of these: Then it's game over. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 dont really mean anything by it, but i remember seeing this when it came out two years ago. combined with the manbearpig it would be awesome though. Quote
Thrik Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 Yeah, I didn't see it back then but I was aware of the date. Intriguing because the articles say it was meant to hit the market this year. Quote
dux Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 The music makes it that much more excellent Quote
ShaDoW Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 South Korea is seriously advanced when it comes to technology. They've always been ahead of the EU & US in that department. I'll see if I can ask some of my Korean friends if they know if its being used already or not (although, I guess the military wouldn't really be advertising the use of it publicly I suppose). Love the token South Korean female voice on the turret as well, which asks soldiers for a password. Quote
-HP- Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Yay, more killing machines for this world! :-| Quote
dux Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 In times of peace you should be readying for times of war!RELEASE THE SENTRY BOTS! Quote
e-freak Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 They are in use - they are placed along the Innerkorean Border - they had thousands of soldiers doing nothing but laying there all day watching the border because official both countries (north and south korea) have not made a peace-contract. These soldiers (mostly recruits) have been replaced by that sentry. Quote
Thrik Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 They'd just better hope there're no demomen around. Quote
