-HP-
Anyone interested on this? We all know IW is not developing it, and that WW2 is very 2004, but still, this is looking pretty decent. Here's the newest co-op trailer, and you all know we can't get enough co-op games! http://xbox360.gamespy.com/dor/objects/ ... 91708.html
dux
Zzzzz Arcade WW2. And WW2 again NEXT
insta
Could be fun, the videos look decent anyway. I never got around to playing Call of Duty 3 (which they also made), but I've read reviews of it that were positive. Did anybody here try it? dux
Yeah I played it. Was ok, just boring WW2 again.
Sentura
to me ww2 games have always been the epitome of unimagination; more or less everything happening can be deducted from facts. it bothers me to no end that there aren't enough people in the industry who are able to think for themselves and create something more worthwhile than just a ww2 fps. i sure as hell take gameplay over story, but when you're already locked inside the gameplay of fps, the only thing attractive becomes the story -- and the pacing between combat and puzzles. insta
Yeah I sure hope the gameplay is great too!
Jetsetlemming
I'm so far not interested and if World at war manages to be impressive it will be in spite of returning to WW2. The setting is a huge detriment to it.

I don't think Treyarch really has a say in the matter. My guess is these decisions come straight from Activision. They get a lot of shit for that too. Just seems to be a matter of doing the best you can with the hand you're dealt. to me ww2 games have always been the epitome of unimagination; more or less everything happening can be deducted from facts. I think you can always do something new and interesting with any subject matter, it's just games rarely tend to take it much further than what's already been done in a film prior. Fact based or cooky random bullshit fantasy, it plays a small part in something being great. Take's just as much care and imagination to craft a fact based period game that's great as it does to create Psychonauts, I think. (EDIT: Please don't interpret that as me saying Psychonauts is random bullshit )
JohnC
Weird how everyone trashes World War 2 as if the endless waves of unimaginative ooga booga monsters from glorginagloob running at you in steel corridors full of pipes and blue lights is some sort of venerable goldmine. JohnC
You didn't make a point. Was just the same thing I see tenfold in ShackNews comments. Before everyone said they were sick of the Normandy theatre, so this one's in the Pacific and Russia. But no one's noting that change, are they? On top of which, it's freaking co-op. There's a lot of zombie games, but is Left 4 Dead beating a dead horse? Well, no.

So you're happy to see the same moment of history recycled in countless FPS, RTS, MODS and god knows whatever genres and crap. Even better is this WW2 game is going to be exactly the same as everything else but it has coop and some new shaders. Oh wow! Sign me up, it's the same rehashed bullshit but gosh darn, there's 1 new thing about it. That's so worth my money. And it's in the Pacific and Russia, so what? We've already had Russia in just about every WW2 game there is. Most notably the CoD games. And the Pacific was done with MoH... surprise surprise - Pacific Assault. I just love it when they feel they can milk some more cash out of brainless idiots by mentioning the word coop.
JohnC
That's completely one-sided. I didn't see you complaining at all about other long-running genres like the sci-fi fps, or the modern warfare fps, or the post-apocalyptic fps/rpg hybrid, or even the distant future rts that got hammered through the Earth's core by Command and Conquer. Hourences
A sci fi game can look like may things. There are a hundred ways to portray a sci fi world. There is 1 way to portray WW2. You dont even need to figure out a visual style or a story... Id rather see WW1, much more potential. Art noveau in a very grim war setting, briliant imo.
