Jenn0_Bing
So, someone from THQ has leaked a video of a new Warhammer 40K IP game called Space Marine. Looks very similar to GoW, only a little less event-full, I would hope thats because this is an early video that was probably not meant to be shown though. The video is beign pulled from everywhere, but it's still up here (as of this post.) http://games.tiscali.cz/news/news.asp?id=29130&r=top Hopefully they can pull this off nicely, looks interesting at this stage from what i can see in the video. st0lve
No team mates? No squads? Uhm, the spacemarines never travel alone, atleast unless they are commanders and such. I think the minimum amount is 4, and that is for specialist squads. Looked like they just took GoW and game it a 40K facelift... Hopefully they'll change, and give you options to pick squadmates (specialist weapons etc.) or maybe even terminators PS it's not the first fps of 40k, anyone remember that good old space hulk game? You had close combat weapons in that game too.
Jenn0_Bing
There was also Fire Warrior, which was OK i suppose, nothing brilliant though.
dux
Sigh. There are so many things wrong with that video that I'm not even going to bother. I'll continue to pretend that relic are the only people making OK adaptations of the 40k universe.
Thrik
Heh, I'd never really thought of Gears of War as a game possibly inspired by Warhammer 40K before, but now I think about it there are a hell of a lot of aesthetic and functional similarities — right down to the chainsaws. dux
It should be a Eversor Assassin or a Vindicare Assassin not a Space Marine. They don't do solo commando style unless he's been exiled and is really mad.
-HP-
The animations looked odd to me, but It's looking great.
Izuno
Man i recall working on Fire Warrior years ago. Good times. Hope this game is better...er.
aevirex
Visuals don't look too bad but the pacing and controls seem to suck big time.
Zeta
i haven't touched 40k in about 10 years but that troop carrier seems to pull a ridiculous turn in the video

A sergeant and 4 marines Also, link no work

Just looks like your average console shooter, except it seems your character is even more god-like, taking 8000 bullets while running around chainsawing people. I did think the cityscape was pretty impressive though. The art direction seems very good, but gameplay and basic concept seem to be shite. The areas didn't seem to be good for tactical combat at all... the helipad or whatever, its just you and 8 guys on a flat, empty platform. No real cover, just run and gun(and chainsaw!). Looks to be another shitty console shooter with a pretty face
st0lve
Even though it was their "first build", the direction so far looks wrong.
Sindwiller
"Our version of.... uuhh... the Warhammer universe" Corrected: "Our version of Gears Of War"
Cybbe
Wow, link finally worked. Looks pretty bad. And looks like all that "cinemaction" is going to get really, really tiring in the long run.. And a minigame mid combat? I'm not sure that'll hold up well. Didn't get much of a warhammer feel from it either... I hope he had a god mode enabled or something though. Or it'd be pretty easy. I mean, sure, the space marines are badass.. But not THAT badass :X
