D3ads Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Excellent work Vivi, as usual! Can't wait to see this finished Nice looking stuff Vivi. I'd suggest using overlays to create patches of light on the floor to correspond with the windows. Here's a screenshot from cs_assault of what I'm trying to explain That looks absolutely horrible... :X Quote
General Vivi Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 Did a bit of work on the front area before heading off to bed. Still needs more work! ^^ (and tbh I think this would make a really fun 1 v 1 map or 2 v 2 in css ) added in a small tv to give off some blue light ... sadly you can't really see it in this shot but i'll get a better one next time. dux Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 The lamps still look just plain wrong to me. Quote
Erratic Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 The scene completely fails...as a washroom. Though I do agree about the lamps, they're just really large and really low poly. I think a smaller lamp would work better and fit with how the rest of the scene is finely detailed. Otherwise, can't wait to see where it goes, looking good. Quote
TermInator525 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 what lamp you mean? those nearby the roof of the building? they are not lowpoly, he only has low settings. Though I do agree about the lamps, they're just really large and really low poly. Quote

I usually make mine more transparent and match the gradient colour to that of the light source. For dusty windows I'd use the alpha chanel to reduce the opacity of the effect and diffuse/feather all the edges. Quote
Satyre Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Presently, your map looks absolutely awesome!! But I dislike the outside lamps... I think you could have some better . More screenshots! Quote
General Vivi Posted September 7, 2008 Author Report Posted September 7, 2008 hahah weird ... in that last shot it appears that the low lod is showing... i must be far enough away or something... but yeah when I'm done setting up some different stuff in the scene I will make a model for the lamps and stop using the cs_office ones.. Skacky Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 If I were you, I'd disable shadow of the wheel thing in the second screenshot of last set. It looks a bit odd. Otherwise it looks really great, and I like the outside lamps, they're pretty unusual. Quote
Tarky Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Vivi - I love your work But can I just say that I think those washing machines look a tad ridiculous. Quote
General Vivi Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 @shacky - yeah I forgot to do that before I did that compile. heh @tarky - which ones? the ones on the wall or the ones in the middle of the room? Quote
Tarky Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 The ones on the walls. I don't know - when I first looked at them it didnt occur to me that they were washing machines. Quote
The Horse Strangler Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Nah those lamps give it a Unique Touch, aside that I really like how it came from an Ugly ass Orange map, to a sexy one. Only you have the magic Vivi. Quote
