dux Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38610.html Almost as good as the original Shame they make space marines look like noobs, though. If that was a fluff movie they wouldn't have taken a causality D: /40k nerd Quote
Thrik Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 This will be the finest RTS of 2009. Quote
FrieChamp Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Don't take this as an incentive for elaborating on who ripped off who first but isn't it funny how much exactly it looks like Starcraft? You got the bulky space marines, mysterious, spiritual humanoids who look like Protoss and alien monsters who look almost identical to Zergs. Quote

Taylor Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 There's not much to elaborate, this is the Warhammer franchises offical game and both Warcraft and Starcraft are blatant copies of the two Warhammer franchises (Fantasy Battle, 40,000). Rumour has it Blizzard even asked for the licenses originally but were turned away. Edit: Beaten Quote
st0lve Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Starcraft from 1998 vs. GWs 40K universe from 1987. I really games made my Relic, but I wish they did more of the skrimish games like Necromunda! Quote
dux Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 There was Gorkamorka racing game once I remember. That was amusing to play. Quote
Thrik Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 It might be worth clarifying that I was dead serious with my last comment. Dawn of War was one of the highest calibre RTS games around, and as legendary as Starcraft may be I reckon Starcraft 2 will have its work cut out beating it. Quote

st0lve Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 the WH40k universe is kinda cheesy. So it's the way it should be Quote
dux Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 Warhammer and 40k invented Half of the stuff in games today. Quote
Thrik Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Heh, yeah I do agree it is a pretty cheesy trailer. Dawn of War wasn't really known for its story though, and more its excellent gameplay. I think most people played Dawn of War online, which is where it really shone as at the forefront of RTS gaming. It pretty much laid the foundation for Company of Heroes, which more people might have played(?). Pity they didn't match the quality of the original game's cinematic. I loved that, and think it captured the 'huge scale RTS' nature of the game a lot better. Quote

If that was a fluff movie they wouldn't have taken a causality D: /40k nerd I want to play another Space Marine FPS. last one as far as I know of was Space Hulk and that was fucking awesome but old as Doom. Those chainsaw swords look pwn as fuck to use Quote
