m8nkey Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Anyone played the Quake Live Beta? My beta key arrived earlier this week but I haven't checked it out yet. http://www.quakelive.com/ Quote
Furyo Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 I invited some of the mods into the beta, who then invited other guys, so yeah many of us actually have their key. I have to say I haven't logged in that many times, mainly due to Ubisoft blocking the ports. I would play during my lunch break and can't find the time nor the exact desire to when I get home.... leileilol Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 I never got my key and invite and i was invited 3 times. but basically it's a wulfram-style launched quake3 with widescreen hud and an ad in the corner. Nothing really new. Quote
Nysuatro Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 ppff I already sended my email 4 times Quote
aevirex Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 ppff I already sended my email 4 times Two times as for me (no reply ofc :<). Quote
-HP- Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Yeh, I got a beta key from Furyo . Been playing it for the last 2 months or so, It's really a blast! I got 5 beta invites as well, I sent them over to some friends of mine, but only 2 of them got it. I guess they canceled the invites at that time. Quote
madgernader Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Oh sad face I didnt get a beta key... Oh well, I would have only tried it to see how bad it was over 56k... but i can guess that it definitely wouldn't be good. Quote
Sindwiller Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Oh sad face I didnt get a beta key... Quote
-HP- Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 I found it amazing that you don't need to fire the rail gun slightly in front of the enemy, because of the lag. You fire exactly on top of the enemy and it register the shot, even with 100 ping, awesome! Quote
m8nkey Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 I'm really impressed with it. My friends and I still regularly play Quake3 over LAN and this feels much more smooth and responsive. Quake3 over a listen server, character models had gerky movement. Quote
-HP- Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 my quake live awesome graphicz (it's a custom config btw, so don't get scared! Who plays q3 for the graphics, anyways?) I'm having a blast with this game, as soon as this thing go officially public, it's gonna be the frag era all over again, the king is back baby! Quote
-HP- Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 they didn't confirmed that yet, but I seriously doubt it. because in each map, you'll have dynamic publicity ads spreaded throughout the walls and ceilings. So, unless there's a rule that you'll have to put X number of this panels on your map (which I doubt, lol) you wont be able to make custom maps for QL. And I'm ok with that, the game already has enough maps as it is, but ID is still working on some more, so... yeah! Quote
Sindwiller Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 they didn't confirmed that yet, but I seriously doubt it. They're reworking the GTKRadiant, now called ZeroRadiant, and its sources are public (GPL - http://www.qeradiant.com/cgi-bin/trac.c ... nt?rev=177 ) so I doubt that they will go all this way to just give people a enhanced GPL Radiant Quote
