When i was a kid they used to show this old czech movie on TV at least once a year. I remember how fascinated i was by the art style (nowadays i would call it like that) and the animations. It was such an immersive way to tell the story to a kid!

The whole visuals of the movie are based on old illustrations from a Jules Verne book. It's mind boggling how they were able to do something like that in 1958. It often looks like its done with the help of CGI and composed with help of computers. But this stuff didnt exist back then. What an inspiring piece of art!
