Thrik Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 If you've ever linked to a YouTube video and thought it'd be nice if you could just include it in the post like an image, now you can. By using the new YouTube tag, you can embed any video on YouTube into your post unless the author specifically prohibits embedding (rare). All you need to do is get any YouTube URL: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eu88KIP27lQ Identify the ID of the video: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v= eu88KIP27lQ And then wrap that ID in YouTube tags: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu88KIP27lQ[/media] The result will look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu88KIP27lQ Sometimes the URL on YouTube will be a bit more complicated, so just look for the bit immediately after "?v=". For example, it might look something like this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eu88KIP27lQ&eurl=http://forums.mapcore.net/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=11692&p=204463 Similar tags could theoretically be produced for other sites too, although obviously I don't want to go too crazy with this. Feel free to leave suggestions below and I'll consider them once this has been tested for a while.
Bic-B@ll Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 there was no better video that could have been used as an example. cheers. jesus i think i saw that last 7 years ago.
FrieChamp Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I must admit that video was most excellent! I will try to make use of this modern tag wizardry in the future!
-HP- Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Awesome! It's going to be a new generation for EOT'ers!
Thrik Posted August 9, 2008 Author Report Posted August 9, 2008 OK, WeGame is now supported too. Usage is exceedingly similar, with a regular WeGame URL looking like this: http://www.wegame.com/watch/We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now/ You can see where the unique ID of the video is quite easily: http://www.wegame.com/watch/ We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now / Which when pasted in looks like this: [wegame]We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now[/wegame] It's important to ensure you don't accidentally paste in the slashes or it will fail. The end result looks like this: [wegame]We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now[/wegame]
Thrik Posted August 9, 2008 Author Report Posted August 9, 2008 Now Gametrailers joins the party too. Here's a Gametrailers URL: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36435.html Here's the ID isolated: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/ 36435 .html Here's how you'd post it: [gametrailers]36435[/gametrailers] And here's the end result: [gametrailers]36435[/gametrailers]
